Interesting to see that Alonso himself is not to sure that he can win it all, while you guys, are tipping him as the favorite.
Could it be that he knows the Ferrari is not up to standard yet despite the strong showing? Or is he just laying the ground work for an excuse if he doesn't will the Championships?

Wow using the driver's body and cockpit they reduce draft to the rear wing on the straights essentially reducing drag and attaining up to 5MPH speed increase
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

I think the only interesting races will be the rainy ones this year. This makes me sad, because it certainly leaves a lot to the random factor.
I don't think it's too bad, yes race 1 was boring, but so were many others before. I'm not sure the refuelling ban made things that much worse to be honest! It's sad to hear drivers are coasting to preserve their cars and tires.

Its true that it had potential if Vettel's car would of not broke down, Alonso (and Massa at the first half as well) was purposedly keeping a consistent 3-4 second gap with Vettel the hole race to get fresh air and save tires while waiting for lap -10 to attack Vettel's position. That was the strategy then team had, but we never go to see it unfold.
Unfortunaltely Vettel had problems well before lap 10 and we don't know if there could be room for some exitement when they fought for P1. That may have changed the race in terms of exitement... or maybe not. But instead, after Vettel droped back, Alonso increased the race pace, setting fastest lap of the race, to open up a gap with Massa and that was it. Hamilton was doing a very fast race pace in the last thrid of the race with the harder tires and lighter car and could of also been in the fight, but he was way too far behind already to try. A bit boring.

SciFrog:
They have to ban double diffusers. All the rules changes mean nothing without less downforce.
You are spot on.....this is the crux of the matter. Unless there is less down-force which creates the dirty air which prevents overtaking, then this season will be another grand procession.
This is very frustrating to watch....

A Red Bull adviser claims that Mercedes pulled out of supplying engines to Red Bull since they were scared that Red Bull would outperform Mercedes with the same engines
www.planetf1.com/news/18227/6033626/-Merc-were-scared-of-Red-Bull-
I think Red Bull is believing its own hype through a sense of bravado.
If Mercedes was afraid of being outperformed by another team, they would not have continued to supply McLaren this year. I know they already had a binding contract to do so but AFAIK it was renegotiated anyway as part of a wider deal for 2010. AFAIK Mercedes did a deal with McLaren (e.g. selling its stake in McLaren, regarding engine supply and other technical matters etc)

So, Red Bull were indeed mistaken when they claimed that Mercedes refused to supply Red Bull with engines for 2010 out of fear.
It appears that Mercedes was prevented from doingo so by McLaren. I assume McLaren has the option in its agreement with Mercedes to veto the supply of Mercedes engines to rival teams

Everyone was rolling out the full wets yesterday in the pits. What is the rule there, say if you qualify in top 10 with dry, but it rains the next day?
Mar 25, 2010 9:52:01 AM
If the Race Director (Charlie Whiting) declares the race to be a "wet race" then teams can choose intermediate or full wet tyres without contravening the regulations.
If need be, the race itself can even start behind a safety car (i.e. without the grid formation) if it is deemed very wet by the Race Director.
