The hardtop patent has been around for a while. The biggest problem has always been the mid engine configuration. it would require quite a styling change for the rear end. I suppose it is possible but why bother when you already have the California with that top?
I did not notice that you had white stitching. A word of warning. Take it from someone that had white stitching with black interior. It does not look good. It looks cheap. Go with yellow and you will not be sorry.
Nick,
I've had white stitch before with black leather on my 430 spider so I'm very familiar with it
White stitch is what the Italians put with the Giallo Triplo Strato and it featured in the display car at the World Premiere. Conversely to you I think yellow looks cheap and is just too much yellow with a yellow exterior. I saw a couple of regular Giallo Modena 458s on the production line which had yellow stitch and I really didn't care for it.

A possible Enzo replacement is not just "another interesting new Ferrari model" if that's what you are insinuating...
No, I'm not referring to the F60 or whatever they decide to call it
Come on ISUK, please do tell

Isn't there a conflict between DAAL and ALIC?
Kreso,
According to MODIS yes there is. According to the Atelier, no there isn't
I'm still debating the yellow versus Rosso Corsa arguement in my head just now as I want the best resale. Got today to finalise it all. Red wasn't a contender until I saw the fantastic Rosso Corsa car in the Atelier last week. It had a superb interior and that's what's nagging away at me

I like the all black/carbon approach of Iain's but felt cuoio suits my home terrain better and makes the cabin appear larger.

UALZ alcantara upholstery for upper zone
the standard one is in leather without extra cost?
Super racing seats: what size you guys are getting?
Maybe Large is the one to get as it will suit most people, but I worry it might be too big.

Standard is black leather at no extra costs I believe. ULEZ is color of choice leather and ULAZ color of choice inc Nero alcantara.
After a long night of thought and several discussions with my dealer today I've switched my order. I love the Giallo Triplo Strato but got my fingers burnt going for a special colour on my 430 spider come resale time. I know the market is different for first of the line of a new model but I decided not to take the risk. My (hopefull) final spec matches the car that was in the Atelier last week which looked stunning IMHO. I've changed a few small trim items. Spec is as follows: -
458 Italia in Rosso Corsa
RACING & TRACK
RSCH Racing seats In Carbon Fibre
EXTERIOR & COLORS
LOGO Scuderia Ferrari shields on fenders
RMSV 20" painted sports wheel rim
PEXS Sport sill cover
CALR Rosso Corsa brake Calipers
INTERIOR & MATERIALS
RPMY Yellow Rev Counter
CIDL Carbon Fiber Driver Zone + Steering wheel with LEDs.
CILR Carbon fiber for Tunnel Console
DATR Dashboard inserts in carbon fibre
UALZ Alcantara upholstery for upper zone - Nero
ARMC Alcantara upholstery for armrest - Nero
STC1 Colour upon request for standard stitching - Rosso
DAAL Dual colour interior in leather & alcantara - Nero/Nero
CSB1 Coloured safety belts - Rosso
EQUIPMENT & TRAVELLING
MIR2 Interior & exterior electrochromic rear view mirrors
TPM0 Tyre pressure + temperature monitoring system
PAR2 Rear & front parking sensors
IPOD iPod Connection
NAVC Satellite Navigation system
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
Steering wheel with rosso thumbgrip inserts and rosso stripe on centre of race seats
IMHO the perfect combo would've been Giallo TS with the carbon interior, but if you had to choose then rosso with carbon is indeed a better choice for the plan you have of swaping thc ar for a spider when the time comes. Any way you look at it you are ending up with a fantastic car.
Lain I don't know if you mentioned it before but were there any rosso corsa cars with black roof at the atelier? in the configurator it looks like one of the best combinations, what do you think?

What means "Aluminium Steering Wheel with LEDs"???
Enmanuel,
I didn't see any completed bi colour cars. The guy at the Atelier said it didn't really suit cars with solid (non-metallic paint) in his opinion. The only bi colour car I saw was a body shell at at around station 7 or 8 on the assembly line so it had no doors, front wings, bonnet, glass, interior etc. It was a Bianco Avus car with a gloss black roof and the atelier chap was correct, it didn't work so well on solid colours.

If i'm not mistaken... It was going to be the standard steering wheel but with the top part where the leds are in the carbon steering wheel.
mm..... it would be nice see some pics

If you are still uncertain about the satin roof option and keep the car for a limited timespan, I´d suggest to apply the satin-matte foil after delivery. Matte surfaces and solid colours work very well this way and should be fairly easy to apply on this limited stretch of bodywork.

I did the same. i switched to red cause i'm planing to sell when the spider comes out. so i had to minimize the options. I just couldn't resist the racing seats

+2 , but i think glossy black will look even better than matte black. Foil is a great way to experiment with different looks on the 458 without paying the resale consequences of ordering the black roof straight from the factory. imo red with black roof is a great look that makes the car look even better.
PS: i'm slightly addicted to configurators

ISUK was the first person to request it and since he changed his order it seems like the factory still haven't made one. so pictures are impossible.
Correct on the steering wheel Enmanuel
My dealer and I did talk about doing a vinyl wrap for the roof as it will be a lot less expensive and reversible. He may do it with his demo car which is Giallo Triplo Strato.
I use a good company close to me for fitting clear 3M paint protection film and they offer an interesting painted film product which is better than regular vinyl which they can wrap with. I may look into this but the cost for a year's ownership will probably mean it's not worth it.
