    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Congratulations Nick! You live a wonderful life and obviously your wife knows how to add some sparkle.

I just hope you never have to sleep on that couch in the background when you sneak away in her car...

    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Thanks guy's. The garage doubles for her exercise "studio". Should I decide on getting the 458, she has more cleaning to do.

    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Very nice Nick. Congrats to you on coming around (although you probably had little say in the matter)  and to your wife on her choice!

    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Guys - this is really a big day for Nick. He found nice words for a Porsche and bought one  I buy all my cars for my wife too and dont own a single one

Congrats Nick - great car for your wife. Nothing better than a woman turbo driver...

    Off enjoying my car...

The car is home with its new owner; my wife and her companion who never leaves her side. I have not had an opportunity to drive the car for a decent report on it. However, my first impression is the car is as well built as any car I have ever purchased. I will report later on the performance.

Right now my wife is cleaning out the garage.

Cleaning out the garage as in getting rid of the Ferrari? Or the Mini? :)

    Nice car Nick Smiley

I see a couch in her 'exercise studio', does she made you sit there and watch her exercise?

    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Congrats to you & your beautiful wife Nick.....Even the little doggie looks happy too.

    Nicely done!

John, I take it that you decided to go ahead then? If so, congrats Smiley Smiley

Hi Easy – to be honest it’s all a bit of a quandary, with a large helping of head or heart!

I love the ‘idea’ of upgrading to the Turbo S, but have the following reservations…

Is it really worth trading my car (’05 997 C2S with 35K miles) PLUS a further £100,000 or so?

Is it just too much power for UK driving conditions and speed limits?  I could see a strong possibility of having to engage the services of Nick Freeman again..!  Perhaps without the same outcome as last time.

Is putting down a £10K deposit and waiting for a September build too long a time to wait?

I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting PDK this year, but on which model I’m still mulling over.

Just wish I could do the same as Nick and his wife did and stumble over something I fall in love with and can have it there and then.

    Here we go again...Smiley  Smiley

    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Hi John, it's obviously a matter of "personal preference" re. C2 versus Turbo. My humble opinions, having owned a C2, drove a C2S extensively, drove GT3 extremely vigorously , and now own a Turbo:

    1. I live in Southern Cal, where speed limit is mostly 65mph. Above 100 mph, cops are liable to impound the car; in other words our hands are tied. Even so,  yes there is a significant difference in feel even at lower speed, and yes you will feel this difference at every speed and every gear, even driving below say, 75 mph for example. Simply put, Porsche NA flat 6 911's will never feel the same as a Turbo or GT2. Paradoxically, this difference is more noticeable in lower speed driving, as the NA engine gets stronger at higher RPM all out driving.

    2. Regardless of the speed limit, there is NEVER too much power. :-) Any motorsport fan will find a way.

    3. While there are exceptions, there have been several examples of people moving from C2/C2S to Turbo, and per my web research :-) statistics, 99% never moved back. This should give you an idea of whether this is a good move.  When I drive the C2/C2S, I always have this feeling that it could and should be faster. Now I don't think what-if anymore since I know there is hardly any faster car around me.

    4. If $ is a concern, I think PDK Turbo would be fine (remember this is about the fastest car in the world at the lower speed range, and even higher up). If $ grows on tree for you, S it has to be!

    5. I drove for 2 weeks in southern England a couple of years ago (Bath, Cotswolds, Stratford, Canterbury, Oxford, etc.). Yes definitely I think a Turbo drive through the Cotswolds would be heavenly.

    Very well said. Smiley
Having had "a lot" of C2 and c4S even with 385 hp performance kit this ist exactly my opinion. Never thought about moving back to a "normal" 911.

    No exaggeration:
After my very first ride in the 997 turbo (happend in 2007) I asked myself "how could it happen to waste all the time in a C-(whatever)?"Smiley

    Re: New Turbo S presentation...

Many congrats to Mrs. B, she is beaming

So, I come back from being away for a few days and check to see what's new on RT. Here's the timeline:

    - 19 Mar, new thread on TTS presentation

    - Second post, Nick picks up the Cayenne and checks out the white TT that Mrs. B likes

    - 20 Mar, 08:30 hours, "going to dealership later today"

    - 20 Mar, 13:00 hours, "bought car, getting it in August"

    - 20 Mar, 16:00 hours, "change of plans, don't want to wait, getting car tomorrow"

    - 21 Mar, 19:00 hours, car is in the driveway, picture posted on RT.

Now that's what I call action. Anyone wondering why Rennteamers tend to be successful people

IMO the quality of people that stick around in RT is exeptional. there's a lot of smart and well grounded people here, and thats a great part of why its such a good forum.
