With Rohrl and Stewart above are a friend and Stewart's son. I have always admired Stewart for retiring on top, as opposed to some other drivers (Schumacher?) and athletes. I was with Brian Redman in the paddock at Watkins Glen in the 1970s when Stewart's fellow Tyrell driver--Francois Cevert--was killed in practice. Stewart and the team withdrew from the race, and I don't think Stewart ever raced again with true heart, if at all.
