The large "PORSCHE" logo on Panamera and Cayenne is part of tradition BTW. Not that this makes it more attractive.

    Can you elaborate ?

I would of been interested in the hybrid too.... as it would be the only way my wife would be ok driving it Smiley

How is the size compared to the old cayenne ?

The new Cayenne has more interior room than the old one, just wait until you see it.

I would go for the S because the Hybrid is more expensive, slower (accel, Vmax), technically more challenging (possible issues) and doesn't provide THE huge fuel saving capability I would expect from such a car. If it is true however that Swiss laws may favor Hybrids, get one. Otherwise, I would stay away from it because it doesn't improve performance.

I don't get it: does Porsche have a seperate design team which messes up the rear on the cars (e.g. Panamera) ?!

I also don't get that huge PORSCHE lettering on the rear, it looks horrible.

    --

I was thinking the exact same thing!SmileySmiley First the 997.2 rear, then the Panamera, and now the Cayenne???

The front is much better than I expected, they did a great job for a SUV, very Panameraish... but that REAR?Smiley And I can see the rear PORSCHE lettering factory delete option being a very popular one Smiley

Also the interior looks like a winner as well, like in the Panamera.

Overall I think it looks better than the first gen Cayenne did in its day. Very sporty looking which is what the firts gen needed. Looks like they did a good job inspite that rear.

Don´t forget the Boxster and Cayman models, especially on the former the taillights are the worst modification to me. The pronounciation of curved shapes does neither fit the car´s driving character nor the facelifted front appearance.

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

Actually the PORSCHE lettering on the rear stopped in 1974 with the "G" Series (the one with the US bumpers) and was "revived" with the Panamera in 2009 or 35 years later ....

I agree it's ugly but some emerging markets are requesting it and it is difficult to ignore over 1/4 of your unit sales and certainly MUCH MUCH more of your profits !!!! Money talks.

Thanks for the statistics, very very interesting.

Biggest surprise for me is actually Latin America.

Do you have something similar seperated by models sold ? (911, Cayenne, Panamera, etc.).

Would be great and very insightful.

Latin America isnt a surprise, think about its sice - 2000 cars are not much compared to the size.

     High Gnil.

I have the same problem with my wife Smiley

But I just made a comparison on the german configurator between the S and the hybrid and saw something that might be a deal breaker : the hybrid has no Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), nor the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus).

and there it goes.... I mean this is the tribute to a car which is nor Fish nor Meat! This are the dynamic drive options - you want to have them in order to make the car really sporty. And as the Hybrid is already overweighted, it would need those options more as any other model!

The hybrid is still beta - basta!

IMO the shape of the rear lights is OK to say the least. BUT the colour is very striking and contrast badly with any bodywork colour. They should offer a "Klarglasoptik" option similar to the 911.

I fully agree.  Either a clear lens or darkened lens would fit much better.  I'm sure we'll see that as an option soon.

So I see where Piech's cost cutting has affected the Cayenne.

They slap on a Hyundai rear from a few years ago, put some Porsche lettering and called it done.

     That's called cognitive dissonance.

    Just kidding, of course.

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

Don´t like the rear lights either but otherwise it looks ok to me, especially the interior is a huge improvement. Rear valance seems to have no paint just like 03-04 cayennes, cheap. Will there be a GTS or a manual stick option for the S? Will be in the market when they have worked out the bugs, probably MY 2012.

The original Cayenne was marketed as having serious off-road prowess.

Hs that changed with the new models?

    Can one lock the differential?

    What's the max clearance, etc?
