    997 GT2 RSR

    Will this car be available for street use? Heard the specs are 600Hp, old engine block and manual gearbox, is this true?

    That's what I heard too. Actually GT1 block with over 600hp. Almost too good to be true..

    RSR denotes a pure racing car running in the FIA GT2 class with a normally aspirated engine and is not to be confused with the 997 GT2 road car, which has a turbocharged engine.

    ...absolutely correct Fritz. In fact it is even more confusing because the current GT2 would actually qualify to run in the current GT1 class (as today's GT1 class is the old GT2 class, after which the car was named).

    So why is Porsche not racing the GT2 in GT1 class?  Is it not competitive?

    The current regulations do not favor Turbo powered cars.
