Speaking of Panamera success in Germany.

Not bad at all IMO bearing in mind that Panamera was produced for only 3-4 months in 2009.
Compare it to the Mercedes CLS for example, that had a full year and it is offered in so many engine versions incl.diesel.
It is actually pretty bad for a new model and even worse that they sold more Cayenne than Panamera in the current economic environment.
Look at the TOTAL numbers for 2009, which look much better because the dealers registered many Panamera to their dealership when the car was introduced.
Lets wait for spring and see how the Panamera does then.

For me the numbers are not so bad.
MB S-class sold only 400 pieces, and if you subtract all diesel and V6 engines then they have sold more Panameras then S-class.
Also you can´t compare Panamera with Cayenne. We have Cayenne diesel, Cayenne V6 and then the other models. For sure the first two are sold twice us much as the V8 models.

Porsche Germany had a VERY special lease offer for the Cayenne Diesel in December. 
Guess why...
BMW 7 series: 657 cars in December. And it doesn't really sell well, same as with the S class.

Very interesting, especially if you see that we have roundabout 340 Porsche Dealers in Germany. If every dealer has average of 1.5 test/courtesy cars you already have half of the Panameras. If you further count 300 cars which have been registered by Porsche itself, we have around 800 cars only within the organization. Furhter on, I heard about day registrations for cars which have been sold abroad. So indeed - not many cars left for the German "real owner market".
The car is to expensive - simple as that!

about the price we can discuss - the list price is not much higher then 7-class BMW or S-class MB. But both BMW and MB offer some significant discounts and special leasing offers. So even a 7-class BMW is about 100.000 € list price you get a leasing for 1.000 € per month (36 month basis) for a Panamera worth 110.000 € you get 1.600 € per month on the same basis. So the car is 10% more expensive but in leasing 60%!

Last time I checked, there were 86 official Porsche dealers in Germany.
@ALDO: interesting calculation. I knew that BMW and Mercedes have amazing lease offers but I wasn't aware of the difference compared to Porsche. Absolutely insane.

My math was as followed - I quickly counted the dealers in Baden-Württemberg and I found 19, so I just multiplicatied it with the number of "Bundesländer", that how I got up 340, which indeed might have been a lot 
So - 86 - this brings down the number of test and courtesy cars significantly!
@Aldo: exactly, that's what I meant. A well equipped Panamera 4S is easily on 145 k€ and around 2100,- € / lease per month, vs a 750 for 1200,- I got offered (with similar equipment or even better as we know Panamera doesn't offer many gadgets). The Porsche Lease is not competitive, nor on a Panamera, nor on a Cayenne (Cayenne S 70% more expensive as BMW or RangeRover).
I was in school and later at university everytime one of the best in mathematics.
Maybe I should go (it is not so far away from me) to Porsche and check their calculations. Maybe they have just some errors in their algorithmics

They are too optimistic about sales. With this kind of price tag, Porsche Financial NEEDS to offer special deals. As long as they don't understand this, the competition will profit from it.
I will never ever BUY a car of this value again, it just doesn't make sense in the current economic environment. Too risky.

Yep RC - same here! I dont see the point on wasting so much again. Further on, I learned that Leasing is not that bad at all, at least you know your fix costs and loss and you also know when you will be up for a new car. I never did it before, but I absolutely consider it in the future. Its kind of comfortable that you don't have to marketing your car after some years. I don't like that dodgy car dealers coming to my yard and negotiating my cars value down. Over and out!
