    1/4 mile: 11.5 @ 128 mph

    No real results. Just estimates.

According to real results I have seen, it should do 1/4 mile in about 11,0s at around 130mph.

So any idea when these results will come out in public?

I think we can expect first full tests in magazines with first deliveries to customers. March then, I guess.

My Looksmart models arrived from Italy this morning. I've also just spoken to my dealer and we're going to agree a date in late February to visit the Atelier service at the factory. I'm looking forward to that trip

I wonder if Ferrari engineers, with their finely tuned flexible fins at the front, could have accounted for where people put their plates. Seems like they spend a huge amount of time to perfect a little element only to have its effectiveness altered by random number plate placement. I'm surprised they haven't included some sort of aerodynamically controlled-for place to put it.

But I guess thats Ferrari though. You pay the money for the beautifully engineered gadgets...

This license plate is especially awful, since they also use a frame to fix it. Smiley

Take a look at this German car, where the license plate is fixed directly to the bumper, without using a frame.
    Looks far better IMO. Smiley

Unofrtunately, laws here demand licence plate holder-like on Austrian car.

Since far too many European markets demand front licence plate I am wondering why Ferrari did not provide some kind of solution?

Really? I'm surprised, in Germany we can put the plates directly onto the bumper.

That's rather exceptional, since Germany normally has all the laws you can think of. Smiley

I dislike both of the above solutions... I´d try to get a license plate as short as possible (few letters and digits) and/or the permit for an adhesive license plate. From my knowledge, that´d require an exception from the registration office. Smiley

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

You can just about see the side profile of the plastic mount that Ferrari provide for the front plate in this pic. It looks like the California's. The actual oblong bracket is smaller than a standard size EU plate so the horse would still be visible beneath it. It seems odd that some local laws require a plate holder as it only usually has the dealer's name on the frame?

Yes, it is odd. But, it is written that way.

More odd for me is the fact that Ferrari did not designed 458 front for any front licence plate at all.

Look at Audi R8 for example-that car is clearly designed with front licence plate in mind.

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

None of their current range is really designed for a front plate Kreso. The Gallardo LP560 is even worse in this respect with it's Reventon inspired pointed nose. It looks ludicrous with a full size plate on the tiny mounting plinth they provide as the plate completely ruins the effect of the pointed bumper.

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

I would never put a front license plate on any exotic.

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

a front plate looks really very bad on the 458  Here you dont have to have a front plate. Out of curiosity could someone explain how does the alternate adhesive solution works?

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

Look at the pic below, I think the license plate doesn't look too bad. Smiley

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

Stefan, I agree. The plate does not look bad in the posted photo.

In the US, most states also require a front plate but police do not go out of their way to enforce the rule. If ticketed (usually while the car is parked and by a parking enforcement officer), the citation fine is small around $100 and that will be waived if the car is taken to a police station and shown to the authorities that the front plate is now affixed to the car.

    Thereafter, many remove the plate.

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

If I had one, I would take off the horse and use a sticker or a plate that would fit in there. If you don't, each corner of the plate will always stands in front of the air boxes on both sides of the car.  Might even change the air flow...

Ferrari spends money and time to invent flexible air lips and then manage to almost put the front licence plate in front of them, in such a way that the plate might alter the aerodynamics of the damn car.

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

All of this is mainly pertaining to european license plates, but what about countries that have a more squarish plate? those will look even worse.

We spend our hard earned coin on a eurobumper so the BC plates dont even fit.... My buddy and i are rocking this setup currently.... BC plate is in the windshield, german place on car.

    Good luck with that.

Many years ago, my boss moved to Quebec from Alberta: Alberta has a front plate, Quebec does not... so he kept his front Alberta plate for old time's sake.

He was stopped by the police who noticed the different plate; made him remove it and cut it up into pieces on the spot.

Dang!  Must have been quite motivated that cop, those plates are metal and you'll need some serious cutters to go through it!

Re: Rennteam's tribute to the Ferrari 458...lots of photos, videos, etc.

By the way, this thread made me want to see the 458 in the flesh, so I drove to Ferrari of SF.  The sales consultant was quite nice, but told me they're not expecting one until August

So I had to settle to checking out F430 Scuderias and Californias
