Driving a Bugatti Veyron is not about getting faster from point A to point B. It is about having fun. I would also speculate that those who can afford buying AND owning a Bugatti Veyron, could easily afford owning a jet too (if they not already did). 
So whoever wrote this blog entry, actually just wanted to attract readers. The article itself doesn't make any sense.

wait a second, "Bugatti recomends you change the wheels and tires every 10,000 klometers" are they serious? the wheels too after only 10,000K? that is crazy right there.
I'd probably change not only the wheels but the bolts and hub also- all would have potential metal fatigue from the torque thrust . I mean, auto company liability lawyers get involved when an OEM is the one selling a 1000 ft lb TQ car , as opposed to cars such as aftermarket twin turbo Vipers and such that are even more powerful.
Change the rims?! Now, I've never heard of that kind of bullshit. If 747 rims can last the life of the plane, surely Bugatti could have designed something a bit more substantial.
Tire changes ever 4,000 mi is a bit absurd too. I mean these aren't racing slicks with a set number of heat cycles we're talkign about here.

With Piech at the helm do you expect anything less?
What Piech whats he gets. He wants the power figures, maybe the engineers told him the wheels cannot be made strong enough to last longer without affecting handling at the elevated power level, so maybe Piech said then put in a notice for customers to change wheels. It's not out of the blue.

hahahaha. Bugatti Veyron = most milage done my service techs than owners. I can see it now.
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

You really think someone driving a Veyron will care if he needs to change rims and tires every so often? His safety has no cost. And he probably owns more than one plane...
Now we know why that guy drove a Veyron into that pond in Texas. He couldn't raise the funds for the new set of wheels the car was due for.

Chaning wheels, must have been someone translating it out of the German. Some talk about "Reifen" and many people are meaning both, rim and rubber.
But anyway - if the tyre would hold 10.000km this would be really fascinating. I mean, I can hardly make 8000km with the Carrera?
