jkseger . I am afraid that Panamera was the last Porsche with smiley face and next Porsches , starting with new Cayenne , will all have frowny face - look at this 991 rendering .
1. this rendering is wrong, the 991 will look different.
2. the "smiley" face of the Panamera continues with the Cayenne

These are the pictures from AMS magazine.Their impression of the rear lights too.
They state a weight reduction of 180 kgs (39kgs of which comes from the new doors and 10 from wiring!).
CO2 reduced by 26% and fuel consumption by 23%.
V6 = 300PS
V8 =400PS
V8 Turbo = 500PS
Hybrid: 3 liter Kompressor V6 333PS + 34kW E-Motor = 380PS and 8.2 l/100km consumption.
No mention about transmissions in the article.
According to the article the above "greener" technology and the more sporty external appearance are also aimed at increasing the social acceptance of the Cayenne model.

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts
The rear is pretty accurate, the front not quite.
I also doubt the weight reduction of 180 kg but without ANY options, it may be true.
Look at the Panamera Turbo and its weight with some of the common options. Ouch.
The power figures aren't all accurate either but close, a powerful Diesel is also planned.
CO2 output and fuel consumption reduction is pretty accurate.
Of course Porsche tries to change the social perception of the Cayenne but I'm not sure they will succeed as long as they use the same name again. The roundly shape may "trick" people into viewing the Cayenne as a smaller and less aggressive SUV but I'm not sure how long this perception will work.
Porsche just got unlucky with Greenpeace and that dumb german car magazine article.
I'm curious when Greenpeace and/or a car magazine start a campaign against the X6 M but I'm not worried about the X5M, its design is too tame and too unspectacular to get people occupied with it.

Can’t understand how Porsche could design the cayenne front such ugly, even if the pics in AMS are not 100% authentic. There was a great similarity to Hanomag in the 50s ...
The new Cayenne looks actually very good. It doesn't really look like a Porsche (the Panamera doesn't look that way either) but it looks very special and "fits" the Panamera. The sportier look seems to be reserved for the 911, Boxster and Cayman.

Any idea when official information will be released?
Should be any day now. I actually expected the press releace late December but I guess it is going to be January.

1. price: well...you know who the winner is here
2. performance: the Turbo is no real match for the X5 M but close (will be different with the Turbo S)
3. perception: it takes time, I doubt that the public perception is going to be better with the introduction of a new model, on the contrary
