    Carrera & Baby Seat?

As we are getting a new family member Smiley I thought about my cars. As I dont want to drive on the weekends with the Sedan or my wifes Mini, I thought about changing my C2SC to a Targa.

Now the question: Does someone in here has experience with a Baby Seat and a Carrera? Does someone know, if the Targa has Isofix Baby Seat adapters in the rear (my Convertible doesnt)?

    Thanks and regards, L@rs

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

     L@rs,

I have an 08 T4S and drive my kids all the time--they love the view! Only isofix is in the front seats.  You'll need the airbag deactivation kit if you use that...its the safest place for rear facing.  I have a Peg Perego that I used there.  I have also put a forward-facing Britax and a rear facing Peg Perego (w/o base) in the back (using the seat belts and rear tether) at the same time so wife (5'3") could ride in front and our 2 kids in back.  Not that difficult--stable and solid fit but not a "factory fit" either.  Best of luck and let me know if you'd like further info.

    AJ

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

Yours is too young yet for larger seats that go on the back but for the future I have a Recaro Young Sport child seat (group I,II, III) on the back seat for my 3year old and she loves riding in daddy's car.

Also here is the picture of the Romer Duo seat (group 1) from a spanish Porsche owner.

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

Most of the time, I had the baby seat in the front, and had the air bag deactivation device added. Now, my youngest in 3 1/2 and goes in the back on a booster.

Man, that Romer looks more supportive than my sport seats. Wonder if they make full size buckets... Smiley

Hey Lars, seems as if 2010 will be a good year for new Rennteamers! Smiley

If I remember correctly, Dario said something about offspring, now you and in my case it won't take long either. Smiley

All the best for you and your family. Smiley

Sorry I couldn't help you with the seat question, but if you got the answer, please let me know. Smiley

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

    Thanks for the wishes Mates!

@ViperDriver: Thanks for your explanation. In this case, I will think about this solution, too. It seem it really work with a kid in the rear!

@Carlos: Thanks for sharing the picture - this help a lot and gives confidence that the space is enough. I could also think about getting the back-seat cushions of the car out, this would give a couple of cm more space in height and deep.

@Stefan: Didnt know that you are expecting a new Rennteamer soon, too! Congratulations - when is the date - is it a girl or a boy?

@Darius: Did you use a Maxi Cosi/Baby-Car-Seat in the rear? How does it fit?

Many thanks again, this helps a lot! I also will buy a Maxi Cosi today and try to fit it in my Convertible. I really think about getting a Targa as it seems it has more space in the back and that the rear-window helps for fitting more stuff in the rear!

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

    Lars,

no till now i never put my kid in the Turbo..i think is too little, and the car is too hard and noise for him..i will wait at least when will be 4/5 months old....also becouse the first seats i buy is not good to fit in the Turbo, was a combo with the stroller..i put it on the GTI and in the Cayenne.

But if i'm not wrong till 8/9 kg,next month i will need another seat bigger and i will take one that fit the Turbo too!

he ask me just a few time that whant to make a ride in THE car

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

I bought a Porsche group 1 seat from the latest range (2010) for my 12m old son as I had grandiose delusions of using my car to cart my young family around on weekends.  Well, the seat ended up being a total waste of time and money as 1) fitting the seat in the back resulted in absolutely bugger all leg room for the passenger in front and 2) one has to be a contortionist to get a baby into the seat at the back, strap him in, take him out whilst he is asleep etc.  The local OPC was kind enough to take it back after I showed them my chiropractor bills.

If you really must, then go ahead.  As we also own as SUV, the 911 baby duty will be put on hold until he is old enough for a booster seat.  In the interim a GT3 sounds like a mighty fine idea.

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

    Stefan,don't warry..and thanks!

    Liquid,thanks for your review..

then guys, for you that have kids older than ours and with more experience, what we must buy?nothing for the 911 in the back seats till at least 12 months of age?at least till group II?

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

We have a 6 year old and a 15 month-old, and we have also given up trying to find a suitable child seat to transport the younger one in the 911.  She's 10 kgs at the moment - we'll wait for her to get to 15 kgs and I'll start looking for a suitable G3 high-back seat for her.  Unfortunately, I can't find Recaro or Romer child seats anywhere here in Dubai.  Any Rennteamers in Dubai know how I could get hold of one?

However, if only the elder one is with us, then she fits really nicely in the back on a Mothercare Commuter Booster seat (all of USD20!), which fits exactly onto the rear seat base without any modifications/supports.  Basically I saved tons of money by not buying the Porsche G3 seat!

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

    Arshad

Babycity at the MOE stocks Recaro. So does the Ferrari store in IBN Battuta mall.  But you should heed your own advice and wait for a g3 seat as until then, I think that the compromise is too much, especially if you have a second more fam suitable ride.

See you at the Yas circuit next week

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

    Liquid

Thanks very much for the info!  I actually was asking about Recaro for their G3 seats as I believe the Recaro high-back boosters fit well on the rear seat.

Yes, look forward to next weekend!

    Just sent you a PM...

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

Well while congrats are in order, maybe I should mention that we got a late MY09 boy... No more family trip in the Mini or the 612 until he gets close to one year and we can use toddlers seats...

Many congrats, SciFrog, great news from the outgoing year. Smiley

And at least you've got a Ferrari with four seats. Smiley

We will have a girl End of February (22nd).

Lets see who will be first ;)

    Re: Carrera & Baby Seat?

I've got a Britax Diplomat  (forward facing)  that sits perfect in the back seat of my 09 997.   My son is 2 years old and loves it in the back of "Daddy's car".   Child needs to be about 1 year of age.  For a new born you need a rear facing seat and that would only fit in the front seat - need dealer to deactivate passenger air bag though.

Congratulations on the new addition and best of luck!!
