    SciFrog:
    That is a ricer Cayenne....

i respectfully disagree with u, ruf is one of the very few companies that can tune porsches Without making them ricer cars. its just the color of that picture that didn't help.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

As much as I love RUF as a company and Porsche tuner, the look of this Cayenne is hideous, sorry to say that.

I actually like the current Cayenne front a lot but apparently Porsche needs to adapt the Cayenne design to the Panamera, which doesn't necessarily have to be a win situation.

Hope the happy face grill, not the carp mouth one, is the final design.  Thanks as always for the pics, Misha!

Is the plateform of this Cayenne the same as the Q5?

if yes, it means that Porsche cars will receive Audi or VW pieces but the final price when you go to see your dealer will stick to the Porsche price. Smiley

Guys, don't let the photos fool you. The next generation Cayenne is still a huge car, Porsche just succeeded in making it LOOK smaller. Psychology rules. Smiley

No, it is not based on the Q5 platform.

if at all it is still in conjunction with the Toureq and Q7 platform.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

In spite of current design trend ( so many new cars have this type of  'face' ) Porsche should have stayed with their own ,well established , recognizable 'face'

    new cayenne face.JPG

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

Too aggressive, Porsche needed to get away from the "well established" Cayenne face. It still is a nice SUV though, don't get it wrong.

I'm pretty sure the new Cayenne will again set very high standards for the competition, especially the new Turbo.
Rumored at around 540-560 HP right now, it will be in the same league with the new BMW X5/X6M. The Cayenne Turbo S, due around one year later, depending on "circumstances" (fuel prices, social awareness, sales figures of the standard Turbo, etc.), is rumored to have up to 600 HP.

A short while ago, there was however a rumor that Porsche is going to lower weight but keep the power figures almost the same. The lowered weight should provide a huge advantage over the competiton but since VW took over at Porsche and since Porsche has/had financial problems, the weight reduction could actually be cancelled for this Cayenne generation. I still don't have a final word on it but there were rumors that the Cayenne Turbo is going to loose up to 200 kg over the previous model. This would have been sensational.

Another rumor, from a pretty reliable source, is that the next Cayenne generation gets a complete interior and exterior overhaul but the technological background stays almost the same, only some improvements are made. Meaning: practically same engines and drivetrain but with PDK instead of Tiptronic this time. The current 4WD technology with lock differentials, etc. could also be optional (some sort of off-road package), making it possible to reduce the weight by at least 50 kg or so.

There are so many rumors right now, the only thing for sure is a Panamera-derived interior and the very same exterior you can already see in those spy shots. The front part will also be adapted a little bit to match the Panamera, the rear will have also more curvy shaped taillights similar to the Panamera. Look at the spy shots, they're pretty well visible.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

RC, from your contacts, do you think the front grill will have the "down in the mouth" look (with the sides slanting outward and down from the top)?  I personally hope not..

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

On the contrary RC , I see new front more aggressive - in a 'cheap' way .  Porsche does not need that .

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

This isn't aggressive at all, the car is "smiling". The frontlights aren't 100% correct, they're slightly "longer"(wider) but otherwise, this is pretty close.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

From all the spy shots, the front isn't any problem for me. This that is more important IMO is the look of the rear. From what I see up to now, the rear light are either well camoflaged, or really terrible. RC, as the only one, who has seen the final shape, can you give more info about it? Do we have to expect something like a Tiguan at the back?

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

Just as a little hint: imagine the Audi Q5 rear with a touch of the Panamera.

Don't worry, guys...the final thing should be official soon.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

RC are the overall dimesions for this car smaller or bigger than current gen Cayenne? Because Im looking at all the pics and I swear it looks smaller, the tires even look thinner.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

new cayenne will be smaller and have less weight to improve handling, cornering and etc

Sounds nice and many other sites and even car magazines are claiming that but...not true. Smiley Weight reduction, if any, will be marginal and the new Cayenne is even slightly bigger.

It just looks smaller, it was part of the development scrap book.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

The last time I saw the Cayenne without camo, it had "longer"(wider) headlights, a mix of the current headlights and the Panamera headlights, difficult to describe.
