SciFrog:
We make a point of NOT having DVD in all of our cars. Worked so far.
Just the family car has (had) a DVD system. The reason is actually my wife, she doesn't like long driving, she gets very tired and impatient. She plays some word or number games with the kids when we're stuck in a traffic jam but after an hour or so, she has enough and this is where the DVD system jumps in quite nicely. When driving, I'm usually not tired (adrenaline) but when we're stuck in a traffic jam or if I need to drive very slow because of weather or traffic conditions, it is very annoying to hear shouting and whining from the back.
Surprisingly, most of the time, the kids are sleeping. The faster I drive, the better their sleep, weird thing but maybe the (wind)noise is the best sleeping pill for kids.
