Wow, great as expected! Thanks all for posting
I'm just not all that excited about the engines. Performance and hidden possibilities if the 530d look awesome, but I expected that, and the new 550 engine. I was expecting a nice surprise with some new smaller turbo petrol engines...

Looks really nice!!
I think they will add some engines with the turbo such as the 35i and maybe more. M5 will be completely sweet, i hope they don't go overboard with harsh design lines though...
BMW job well done, many new techs and improvements!
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

Bland .
It's back to the future : bowing to critics, BMW is once again doing what their top people 15 years ago said they would move away from ( look at the model year 1991 3/5/7 series as an example ) : designing one " sausage " ( car) and slicing it in different lengths , which is what the 3/5/7 are once again, more or less.
I liked the Bangle era where each car was different .

As anticipated it looks fabulous! Thanks again Shakal for all your valuable info that proved right!
Thanx But this time I wasn't very helpful because I didn't have a lot of informations, looks like BMW has tighten up giving informations to avoid a leak like happened with Z4 or with 7 series...
Best video so far:
Brake Energy Regeneration:
I think is very nice, we all agree on this... well almost, the only issue for me it is too big!! I mean the last 5 series was big, this one I think it is huge... pitty! I mean it is not that we people grow 1cm each 7 years... we are the same ... why still making the cars bigger?!?!?

Unfortunately, people mostly grow laterally in recent years.
Hmm...
New 5 series...
Design? IMHO-good but, nothing spectacular. Will it age nicelly?
Technically it is smaller 7 series.
Size wise it is very big car.
Prices? According to German price list most interesting items are optional. Nicelly specd 550i will cost more then 90K €.
Well, it is still cheaper than the Panamera and the quality shouldn't be much different.
I'm not sure about the engine the new M5 is going to get, my dealer expects to see the new X5/X6M engine with up to 580 HP in the M5 but a guy who works at BMW in Munich told me that BMW plans to use a successor to the current M5 engine with up to 560 HP.
If somebody has a more reliable information, I would really appreciate it.
Btw: the new M5 is going to outperform the Panamera Turbo from 0-200 kph according to my sources. Not by much though...

By that time we'll get Turbo S...at a huge price though.
I don't know about Germany, but in many markets people would pay a lot for a Porsche but not for a very expensive version of a BMW 5 or a M-B E class. A 5 series is viewed as a family car for business people mostly with a good diesel engine.

A picture is worth a thousand ( Chinese) sausages - everything is designed for easy digestibility in their market now - it's the car makers' new gold rush and their designers are given these marching orders.
Check out the 7/5/3 series -yes it's three different cars :
