Mirror choice #1 can be done. I can't which F1 team, but one of them ran some pretty "swoopy" compound curve mirror mounts a few years ago before the bodies got all straight and boxy in 2009.
Liquid filled mounts should solve the vibration problems (ask any Harley rider :) )
Oh and here's a rather interesting concept paint scheme I ran across. The faded/blended black to red look may work.
Top canopy (everything above the beltine) in black fading into red
or red with black accents?

Nice, if i wasn't a poor student i'd get one for my garage (don't have a garage either)
Good idea though, i think there should be quite a few on here interested, this is sort of a huge dream for many, and being able to follow your experience is the next closest thing!
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

IMO the black roof would be more aggressive and true to the original P4/5, also it would carry a better color and visual relation with the black wheels, making the car look lower at the same time too. the stripe is very very cool.
I was thinking that way but every new Ferrari now seems to have P 4/5's Black roof so it may be time to move on.

The fact that its on option on other Ferraris doesn't mean it should be avoided on the one that pioneered it (not to mention its uncommon to see the black roof on other models). I just dont think the red roof relates to the shape that well, its because the structural pieces that are now painted red were never designed to be red so they don't have the shape for it.
