depreciation Audi R8
Hi,
I was yesterday visiting my local Audi dealer and was more then surprised when I saw a 8 month old 6.000 km Audi R8. New more then 132.000 € and now 99.500 €. And this is not the last word.
Wow what a depreciation!

What would the depreciation on a Porsche (Turbo or Carrera S) have been?

The same :( - maybe a few percent less.

The lesson from this situation is, always be patient and buy pre-owned.
I was interested in R8 V8 and was looking for a 2009 model car with less than 5.000 km, a month ago and there were around 170 cars on mobile.de for sale and there were very nice equipped cars with 1000 km around 85.000 Euro (excl. V.A.T.)
One of the reasons for the cheap price is V10. And the other one is global economical situation.
However, I always thought 130.000 Euro netto is too much for R8 V8 evenif it is a wonderful car.
Now at around 85.000 Euro, it is the best bang for the money.
Since I couldn't sell my TTS, I haven't buy one yet, though.

Here there are several 2008 R8's for anywhere between $125 - $139K. New, they are about $160K with good options which would put depreciation at about 20%. The list gets longer so it doesn't look like they are selling.
I think 20% depreciation for 2 years old car is normal, actually very good for this kind of sports car.
In Germany, there is 25-35 % discount on almost brand new cars.

Yeah, not much in the way of discounts here I'm afraid.

That is the price the seller want, most likely they trade in your 25-35% depreciation range.
In the US, the R8 is simply too expensive vs Porsche.

All cars depreciate. Unfortunately, expensive MB, BMW and Audi (no matter what model) all suffer the same.
I've seen low mileage 997 GT2's going for ~$190 versus $260K new, but I've seen more than one GT3RS offered at $169K which is about what they cost new.
