Tyre tread depth gauge

Just a little recommendation guys - I bought this tyre tread depth wear gauge made by PCL Air Technology from my local Halfords store last Sunday:

Went out and bought the same thing last week !

Since one of my earlier threads where i got a nail through a rear tyre the OPC changed only that tyre. I noticed this has effected the cars handling. On the rear the new tyre is 7mm and the existing tyres are all about 4mm (Car has done 9000 miles).

If I remember correctly, if a pair of 2 tyres on a particular axle has less than 60% treadwear left (NB new tyres are 8mm) then usually, one has to replace the pair of 2 tyres (i.e. not just one of them). It says that in the owner's manual

Agreed,

At first the handling was quite different. The car would snatch to one side under heavy acceleration , and when the clutch was dropped under heavy acceleration for the change up.

It seems to have bedded in now, but i was in two minds about changing the other tyre. However i am going to sell the car in Q1 next year as i have a GT3 coming in June.

I've had to replace both tyres twice due to punctures resulting in uneven tread wear..one set of fronts and one set of rears.

On both occasions I've kept the good tyre and now have one of each stored in the garage in case the same thing happens again.
