Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

I don't like this design at all and apparently Porsche/VW wants to use it for an entry-level Porsche(hopefully not for the 991).

It's an improvement on the current Boxster with its cheap looking side intakes

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

OMG the picture above is a red cockster, it looks beyond ugly.

As for the cayenne im not sure. It looks really cheap now but i think ill be less dissapointed when it comes out

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

This is how Porsche should look - simple and clean , without   ' design decorations '

    porsche-roadster-rendering.jpg

..and this is how it should NOT  ( side air intakes are bad but front are even worse  Smiley  )

    porsche roadster boxster.jpg

This front bumper and air intakes are 100 x better and would be more in a harmony with rounded shape of new Cayenne . Unmistakably Porsche (face)

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

"Waiting" was the most common word here, when we waited for the final pics of the Panamera too and then what??? I really think that the current Cayenne looks much better, than this Tiguan...

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

Lights as 'real' as possible ....  do not help .  Bad bumper !!

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

If this is a new look of Porsche 'face' then at least I would be happier if it is more backward angled .

intuch1 , sure you did right with X6 M  - fantastic car   Smiley.   I am very impressed with new X6 hybrid , too .   However , I sincerely hope that Cayenne TT / TTS  will have more appropriate face / bumper or some of the tuners come up with a better one then OEM   (something like this little 'design' of mine Smiley ) .

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

One reason for the "softer" look was the development scrapbook. Marketing demanded a less "massive" look and they got it.

The next Cayenne generation looks very nice actually but I'm not too impressed with the fact that the weight reduction has been marginal only according to our sources.

Yes, the X5/X6 M is a very nice SUV, especially considering the price tag. Some dealers over here in Germany started to sell slightly (4000-5000 km) used X6 M for under 100000 EUR, cars with a new car value of around 123000 EUR. Not bad, good for potential customers.

I even found a white X6 M with 1000 km for 97000 EUR, fully loaded, from an official BMW dealer with full warranty. Unfortunately this car was gone after only one week.

This friday, I'm going to get another X6 M for the weekend because I need to make a final decison. I'll keep you guys updated.

A little sidenote regarding the X6 Hybrid: for 102000 EUR (german price tag incl. 19% VAT), the X6 Hybrid is an interesting product because it is already fully loaded. Unfortunately it weights 200 kg more than the regular X6 and the additional weights eats up the power gain through the hybrid system. Even more disappointing is the fact that according to two reviews I've read, the hybrid barely saves fuel compared to the regular model. You really need to be extremely "gentle" with the throttle foot to get some fuel savings, which btw. aren't too impressive. Sorry but I prefer the X6 M for almost the same amount of money.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

car looks ok, but somehow not really special.

I prefer the look of the old one as I even more prefer the bold look of an Range Rover Sport!

The good thing... the old ones will lose quickly there value and as I like it even better I might consider one (on the other hand side, I never was buying an old model before - damn).

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

Maybe are the rims(becouse good rims makes a better car) but in the latest pics i like it..

Behind seems the Infinity SUV,sure more sporty than the current Cayenne

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

The white car in the last picture looks very good IMO.

Mind you, there are many styling elements concealed (lights, engine cover etc) that the look of the real finished car is distorted.

    Speaking of loosing value:

    1. my Porsche dealer offered (not really, he just "fantasized") around 40000 EUR for my Cayenne Turbo S

    2. my BMW dealer offered me 30000 EUR for my Cayenne Turbo S...I almost had a heart attack

    3. my Mercedes dealer offered to me 50% of the initial value but reduced it to 50000 EUR when he realized that this doesn't work out for him Smiley

Bottom line is: the loss is huge and I doubt I will EVER buy again such an expensive car. My experience with leases is much better, you drive it, you pay the lease and you return it without having to worry about the remaining resale value.

Judging from the above, I'm thinking about getting a Mercedes as a family car/daily driver because sooner or later, I'm going to have to sell the Cayenne and its value won't be better with a completely new Cayenne on the market. I could drive it longer but cost is not cheap. Lets take the Cayenne Turbo S brake system: I had to get new discs at around 43000 km and the cost, incl. install, was 3600 EUR. Ouch. The 60000 km service is also due next year and I also need to prolong the used car warranty end of this month, another 1200 EUR or so.

Adding the problems I encountered with public perception and comments from friends/neighbors, I think it is time for the Cayenne to "go".

Your Cayenne is an 06 right? Seems early still to let it go for service reasons.

    SciFrog:
Your Cayenne is an 06 right? Seems early still to let it go for service reasons.

Thats actually not the major reason, just one of many minor reasons.

    1. the Cayenne provokes people, the public perception in Germany, especially in "poor" regions, is of a car of the "rich" and "environmentally insensitive" people, my wife has been "attacked" verbally two times because of the car, one time a third person had to intervene because she really felt threatened, incl. the kids. The car itself has been "attacked" a couple of times, scratches, "ass" in big letters on the front hood, punctured tires (3x), etc. etc. etc. Comment of a police man after my wife called him to report the punctured tire: "Sell the Cayenne and drive something else". Any more questions?!

    2. the resale value has gone down a lot and I'm afraid it is going to be even worse when the new Cayenne generation shows up with the refined interior and the "greener" image (maybe?)

    3. after 3 1/2 years and 46000 km, the Cayenne feels a bit used and old. Driven mostly by my wife and "tortured" by my two kids, it really lost the taste of a classy SUV, it is hard to explain

I'm just afraid to drive with this car at speeds of 270-280 kph again, it is just a personal thing, I don't trust older cars and this is why I prefer to drive cars below 5 years of age. I know this sounds ridiculous but thats me, just a personal craziness. Smiley Smiley

I don't HAVE to sell the Cayenne, just if the dealers I talked to are making me a good and reasonable offer. If I consider it to be a joke, I'll keep the Cayenne until I can figure out what to do next when my 997 Turbo lease runs out in 18 months. I can imagine buying the next generation Cayenne, no doubt about it but I'm afraid Porsche is going to raise the price tag and I'm also afraid that the public perception won't change too much. Time will tell...right now I have to worry about different things.

It does look smaller then the currant version, but it also looks much more feminin . I like it.....for my wife , as before I liked as a car for myself. ( but also still think the bottom air intake should of been the other way around , not this sad mouth )

Once again Ruf  builds the car Porsche should have/be building. (IMO)

I mean this from a design (looks) perspective, not for its "green" credentials.

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

    That is a ricer Cayenne....

Re: 2011 Cayenne with no camo

    ...only because of the color.

Imagine it in your favorite shade of grey/silver, black or white.
