I don't and can't understand why you have to pay extra for an LSD on this kind of performance car ?? 
It is the same in Porsche Carrera/4, CarreraS/4S, Turbo series 
IT should be no cost option if not comes standart with the car..

I hv PZeros on mine (standard in Australia i think)
i prefer the pilot sport on my old boxster. the PZero tends not to last too long.
if u do some track work, my friend recommends semi-slicks.
he used Yoko Advan AD07? from memory on ALL his cars and he swears by them.... not everyday driving of course. but no road tyres can match semi slicks for grip.
but no rear tyres will last too long on a C63 right!? 
hahah definately right about the tyres not lasting long, the car came equiped with Pirellis but the rear tyres only lasted 10,000 kms. I do use it on the track but not often enough to justify semi slicks :) i wish i could hehe but thanks for the help derder :):)

As far as I heard, it can be done only at AMG in Affalterbach, they don't sell retrofit kits to dealers. Cost is substantially higher for a retrofit.
I had the chance to drive the C63 AMG Performance Package last week, a local dealer sells one with 2000 km for 70000 EUR, a real catch.
The car is fantastic, I really loved it and I was even thinking for a second to go for it. The exhaust note is great and the power is for such a small car absolutely unbelievable. The automatic tranny also does a great job. There are some traction problems but hardly noticeable, the car also had the AMG limited slip differential installed.
It could be my perfect family car for little money but my wife doesn't like Mercedes too much and she likes SUVs more because of the higher seating position, the better safety feel and because she loves skiing and a SUV is just perfect for bavarian winters.
I'm still thinking about the C63, such a great car for so little money.
In my opinion, the C63 AMG Performance Package is the best value money can buy right now. Slightly used models are already sold around 70000 EUR, this is a real bargain.
Comparison: the Cadillac STS with the Z1 Vette engine costs around 75000 EUR over here in Germany, slightly used models go for 69000 EUR right now. I would prefer the C63 AMG for quality AND performance reasons.

Why no semi-slicks for normal road? Better grip is always welcome, as long as you don't drive in the pouring rain and in cold wethe you should be fine, no?
The problem is not only rain, the problem is temperature. In summer time, this isn't a real problem but as soon as the temperature drops below 20° C, it is very difficult to get a decent tire temperature. Low tire temperature with semi-slicks means less traction. Not good.
I had semi-slicks on my 997 Turbo for a whole year. Great performance tires for the track and for summer time but everything else...they sucked. Not recommended for normal street driving.

I have a 997.2 GT3 at the moment which as you now is a great car to drive and a lot of fun. My brother has a 2009 C63 with the performance package, and sometimes i wanna drive his car instead of mine:):) the exhaust note is great, the car is extremely fun to drive, yet very comfortable and it can keep up with most of the sportscars out there on the market. IF you have a chance to get one i suggest you do, it's one of the best buys for your money (obviously if you need a 4 door sedan). My brother is thinking of contacting the mercedes dealer here in beirut to ask abbout some Brabus upgrades to the ECU it seems they have a tuning program to get the horsepower up to 535....should be exciting!!!
I was thinking about getting the C63 AMG Performance Package as a family car instead of our Cayenne Turbo S but my wife wants a SUV, not a limousine for various reasons.
So I guess it is going to be a BMW X5 M rather than the C63 AMG but it is really a pitty because I could get it for 70000 EUR slightly used and it would be a real bargain.
The Audi RS6 is also still on my list, my wife likes how it looks but the cheapest used one with full warranty was around 90000 EUR, most of them are rather in the 100000 EUR range. I also need to find a customer for my wife's BMW M3 Cab DKG, so the same BMW dealer who made the lease deal should be the best address to make another deal.
Time will tell, I'm in no hurry.

it is a nice car, had it for 6months now
came from a 2.7L Boxster.
I wouldnt say its better than a 997 GT3 mkI or II, but its certainly a perfect everyday car
which is what I use it for everyday.
we dont hv performance pack in Australia but my car has no limited diff and yes, traction is a struggle in tight bends but just need to go easy on the throttle.
which is quite hard cos the sound above 4k rpm is soooooo addictive. and being auto, I just find I had to be brutal with the accelerator to get any real power out of it.
of course u can use the paddles but who can be bothered to use it on the road?? i just park it in D and use "sport" shfiting button 100% of the time.
so all in all, bargain of a sports car. highly recommended (esp over the M3 coupe which is way overpriced here in OZ).
but saying that, I am saving up for a GT3.2

I would NEVER install an aftermarket tuning kit on a "normally aspirated" car.
Brabus delivers a very good quality but it isn't worth the money. Unless you get some "serious" tuning with at least 100 HP more.

The Brabus upgrade is below.... let me know what you guys think. Its about an increase of 80 HP for 12,000$ i think. I'm getting final price tomorrow. the Performance package plus that's offered now is at 6,000 euros for 30 hp so the brabus is cheaper per hp ....

My wife still wants the BMW X6M and I also want a SUV for winter time and moving the kids but this offer is very good and I have a hard time passing on it. The car looks great and there can't be better understatement than this type of car. Most people think it is just a modded ordinary C-class, not a car with almost 500 horses. Sweet...

RC i just drove home in my brother's C63 and let me tell you that car is a thrill to drive....ive been driving it for a few weeks now while he's out of town aas an alternative to my GT3 but it's not the best car to have in snow or very wet conditions..... but you cant' imagine the fun :):) it always puts a smile on face....the noise, the power, and then i think to myself wow, it even fits 5 people with luggage:):) all this is coming from a GT3 driver!! if it's a good deal i say go for it! On the highway this car is beast and can keep up with the best of them....and it's also very low key....unless the people know what a C63 is..... and then you get even more great comments and thumbs up signs!
C63 is no replacement for your Cayene IMO... the family will NOT be happy in the long run
And for it being a good deal... remember, there are always good deals on such cars when they move this bad in the market

just make sure ur wife checks out the rear seats, cos the leg room isnt great.
we dont hv kids so its no problems, but for long journeys...
and yes, its very understated, thats why I got it in the first place cos I park it outside work all the time.

Are you kidding? Why would I get a C63 and keep the Cayenne?
The C63 would be the family car but like I said, I think my wife wants the BMW X6 M, so I have to go for it. 
It makes sense, Bavaria and Austria have some serious snow around January/February, so the C63 may not be the right car for these weather conditions.

I think there are worse concessions one could make to the wife. 
I am not sure if the smaller interior and lack of AWD would suit your needs, especially since you promoted the advantages of an SUV in the past. If it is due to the social surroundings you mentioned, wouldn´t you be better off with an E63?
