    PANAMERA - The AD

    http://www.panamera.com/#/panamera/extras/tvspot?validationToken=f0cc148a-2cbc-487a-bff0-85e1e506a80e

Very nice commercial, great visuals, good message, and finally Porsche recognizes its true history. The 928 - the flagship is prominently displayed both front and back next to the Panamera.

Yup, the flagship finally getting some very well earned respect and recognition!Smiley

    Re: PANAMERA - The AD

That 959 is just pure sex on wheels......

From the side profile shots, it seems like Porsche stretch out the basic silhouette of the 928 to make the Panamera, while grafting on a 911 front fender with a modified CGT headlamps with a touch of Corvette. The tail treatment is pure 928 however.

I had not noticed that before but you're spot on. These photos were obviously taken to emphasize that similarity.

    Re: PANAMERA - The AD

I love the one with the 550!

Stunnnnnnning pictures! Wished to have them in HD!

Well, wait till racerx gets back online and dispute the remark, we know he loves his 928 with a passion.

I had been saying that since the first shots of Panamera came out, the side profile of the rear is too bulky to be of 911 heritage, it's more on the lines of 928. The straight on rear profile is more Cayman-like with the step shoulder and tail lamps treatment.

Porsche pretty much blended majority of it's cars' design into the Panamera.

    Re: PANAMERA - The AD

Love it. Although I don't see on what basis can a Panny be called a "true sportscar for four."

    Re: PANAMERA - The AD

Can the videos be viewed outside USA?

I tried to watch them but address and other details are required

    Can someone post them please!

It may be pure 1987 face-lift 928 which had over 3 1/2 inches (maybe more) added to the original clean 928 tail - SEE photo below Compare rear turn signal to end of tail).  I didn't like how porsche added butt to the 928 and the buying public did not like it either. The added size and new wing instead of spoiler killed sales of the 928.

Any hatchback design will have some similiarities BUT even an inch here and there can change a design conpletely. The original panamera sketch was a beautiful winner and then Wendell threw a monkey wrench into the works and redesigned the roof killing the sleekness.

With the original sleek roof, a curved dip on the side body to show hips (like the #19 car above has), slightly lower stance, bigger wheels, and a tighter, shorter butt the panamera would be a winner. Waiting for the facelift.

Porsche have started remembering the 928 now because I suspect the Panamera Coupe will be presented as the successor to that great model.

those are some big shoes to fill, the 928 is  near perfect in many ways. the exterior proportions are bang on, the interior is a masterpiece, its just an overall great car. to present a succesor is a bold move, they better get it right.

What a beautiful movie. First I thought it must have been made on the computer. But then some pics show that they really shot it in real - Imagine the sound all these cars must have made.

    Re: PANAMERA - The AD

I just returned from my local dealer today to pick up my 993TT-I had some custom cashmere leather-covered Recaro sport seats installed that can handle the six-point belts (pics tomorrow)-and they had the Panamera 4S dealer car in all black there, so I took a look...and, well, it looks no different than what we have all seen on the internet-obviously very well-appointed and well-assembled, living up to Porsche sport/luxury standards.  The nose is nice, ala the CGT, the interior looks high quality-the console is a bit too big and too busy but acceptable, and of course, no manual tranny for the USA-not acceptable.  And unfortunately, no rear seating for three.

Then to the rear....Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

Maybe the Panamera coupe will work.  We'll see....

Thanks for the link Al. You should post more often. Isn't it time to pressurize the driveway?

Hopefully this guy Michael Maur can produce something worthy to follow the 928.That pshop in the link is an absolute loser. It looks like a mix of Bricklin, Saab sports car, and opel gt.Smiley

Why is the design dept. so talentless at porsche? Or was it just Wiedecking? Just go by your reaction to the panamera or the Edmunds video or Ron's (above) or mine and so many others here!Smiley

With years to do it and many extremely attractive magazine created designs out there, how do you produce something that is widely panned?

It will be interesting to see what kind of sales the panamera can generate. The market that they are going after according to the Porsche marketing official on TV yesterday said they are going for owners of the Merc S class, the BMW 7 series, Audi A8, and maser quattroporte.

Do S class owners care about track times or 0-60 times?Smiley Do they care about having 2 grown men sitting in the back seat?Smiley

I think they care about stylish looks, status, and safety on the way to the country club.

Lets see what happens. Both with "something new" sales and a few years from now.

In that video, it states that Walter is tall, yet it appears that he has a massive amount of space above him, enough to wear a Top Hat.

There was no need to make the panamera SO BIG. It could have been at least 3 inches lower with 2 coming from that un-used headroom and 1" from lowering the seat to the floor. And maybe even more on the ride height of the vehicle.Smiley

On good pictures and more so in real , Panamera is absolutely stunning . I see no  superiority in design of 928 over Panamera .
