Re: September '09 numbers are in

VW? Audi? Are they Included in the very good Porsche numbers?

Re: September '09 numbers are in

only growing company is BMW Group as their Mini and BMW brands both grew... RR must also do well i bet.

Honda and Toyota are suffering... and while Ford is keeping their stuff together, being the best US by a long shot. Nothing surprising.

Number one being Hyundia is kinda cool because i think they have been doing quite well.. new genisis coupe for instance....

I'd take it over any modern US muscle car hands down btw.. Dodge, Mustang, Chevy... Do any of them have an interior like this...

Re: September '09 numbers are in

American cars have ugly interiors and horrible plastics simply because the car companies saved pennies there in order to pay the union workers. Something the Koreans don't have to worry about.

    Unions are bad.

Re: September '09 numbers are in

    You 2 are on drugs

That little shitbox is nothing is nothing different than any other little asian shitbox going back to the mr2 and beyond.

In the picture the seat side bolster looks like it was upholstered by a grade schooler in a hurry to catch the bus.

Come on a V8 muscle car Camaro and Challenger vs. that. Ridiculous. The Golf beats that and the golf is way below a new Camaro or Challenger.

Whereas Ford has not managed to do anything special with the Mustang, Chevy and Chrysler managed to rekindle the true 60's muscle car heritage. You know you have something when you turn the key in V8 muscle car, this thing is like a weed whacker.

Yeah take that over the upcoming Z28 or a Zr1

    Thanks for the evening chuckle

Re: September '09 numbers are in

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe’s cabin welcomes refugees from the plastic armageddon known as the [current] Ford Mustang GT and Dodge Challenger R/T.

    interior put in perspective

The Genesis Coupe’s heavily bolstered seats are a genuine highlight. The chairs cradle drivers like the Spine-Melter 2000, caressing their keisters with the perfect amount of padding, support and contours. Think Recaros built for crossing the country instead of an autocross.

    As for the seats.

Fortunately, the Hyundai’s 312 bhp (on premium gas) DOHC 3.8-liter V6 screams loudly enough to drown out the “Doh, I could’ve had a V8″ crowd. Fitted with the Aisin six-speed manual transmission, the Genesis two-door keeps up with its V8 competition. The mill’s good for a sub-six second dash to 60 mph.

engine, sub-six vs. your 4.6 to 60mph which im sure a lot of these "muslce" cars will do off the traffic light...

So the Genesis keeps up with its pony car competitors in a straight line. And? And the Hyundai also provides more than merely adequate stoppers, standard strut tower braces and an [available] Torsen limited-slip differential. So equipped, the Genesis Coupe will literally run rings around anything else in its class.

that probably includes a RFW vw Golf.

The biggest surprise in this entire package: the Genesis Coupe’s steering. While the Europeans seem to favor lighter and lighter steering feel (to disguise their model’s increasingly obese if safety-oriented curb weight), the Genesis feels perfectly weighted and precise. BMW’s M3—yes, that one—should take lessons from the Genesis Coupe’s steering rack. It serves-up Porsche-level feel, with just a tad less precision.

The Genesis Coupe is one of those cars that’s constantly urging you to waste gas in the senseless pursuit of pleasure.

I dunno, there are probably a lot of people really hoping for the new chevy and dodge products to succeed, and rightly so, I believe based on what else is in their showroom currently, we can all do the math as to product quality and fit-feel.

Yes the camaro and the challenger bring back some 60`s muscle car lines with modern performance and bang for buck, but i truly believe these will neither save the brands nor will they live up to their hipe in this day and age, you know with people becoming aware of fuel consumptions...

That dinosaur notion of the V8 growl when you turn the key is of past generations and i cannot help but feel that the camaro and challenger, though very nice cars, will not make the cut in the automotive world given the circumstances.

While i have one friend who gets a boner over them though, 99% of my friends are in the market for a nimble, small, fun and reliable sports car that doesn`t say LOOK AT ME I HAVE A 2010 MODEL WITH A V8 AND RACING STRIPES, AND YES ITS LOUD...

i dunno i always say each to their own, but people have to see and be open for new emerging brands and cars. cheers

Re: September '09 numbers are in

You have always been the one touting Ford trucks and their quality, correct?

As to quality and japan that ias an old notion. US cars and in thiese cases canadian cars have just as good of quality.

All these little quiet sewing machine engined asian cars that all fit the same mold have always been girls cars. Seriously.

Why would you choose a small quiet under powered car with no sound? Don't you and others rave when someone posts a thread about their new 600 hp lambo or turbo porsche or ruf?

Is it just the price tag?

Read the camaro board, I can't find any complaints so the hype is real.

And as far as this new era you speak of. You are slightly mistaken like obama and the dems, it is the era of the pure electric thanks to Tesla and Elon Musk and now Carlos Ghosen (sp). Oil is no longer a problem as most of essential commuting will be done via electrons. So lighten up about new eras.

I can think of 5 nice asian cars - LS460, 1st gen Acura RL/TL, 350z, 1st gen Nissan Murano, and certain years of the supra the rest is a bunch of tinny sh!t. (as have been a lot of US cars too)

Re: September '09 numbers are in

Buddy im mostly with you, especially regarding the electric cars and Tesla! They are doing amazing work and we are going in that direction, but slowly and with baby steps.

I am just saying that im amazed by the progress of Hyundai is all.
