    Trackday at Clastres-circuit

Last weekend I had a trackday at the Clastres-track in France, it's a very small technical track, very much favoring light cars. There's almost no straight line, so the more powerful cars really couldn't play out their advantage, light was the way to go! Smiley

My car was a joy to drive there, the brakes never fading, I had the car set up for a more tail happy balance and I enjoyed hanging the tail out in the chicanes, it was such good fun.

    Some pictures:

    The track

    Having fun

Here's the VX eating its superiors  :p

Hope you enjoy, I know I did!

There 'll be a video soon too

Nice pics Porker . I would of liked to see how my C2S would of performed in that croud . I think I would of had a tough time... not enough straits

Looks like you had some fun

The car shows quite some body roll. can you stiffen the setup further (shocks/springs), install front anti-roll bar ?

btw, have you experienced any fuel starvation ? A friend of mine, who also has a Speedster Turbo, is having a different fuel tank installed to help fuel surge in fast left benders.

Well, there was both a 996 GT3 and a 997.2 C2S, I was quicker than both of them, but that may (will) be down to the driver... But it's a fact power cannot be used on that track.

I know there's still some bodyroll, but that's relative, as I'm on semi's and most corners are at full-attack, I didn't experience it that much from behind the wheel either...

I've still got 2 clicks to go on my dampers, I may try that next time, next might be a thicker front anti-roll bar as you suggest.

I've not experienced fuel starvation, but mine is not a Turbo, maybe it's a 2.0T related problem?

Unfortunately it isn't, but for all I know, in turboed or supercharged cars the starvation is more disastrous.

I have been on tight tracks with Elise and Exige. I take the Elise, but I can not take the Exige if there are no fast curves, or straights. ( we stay about the same)

That's probably because the Exiges you have encountered were supercharged? Normally there is no noticeable difference in performance between the naturally aspirated Exiges (which aren't produced anymore) and the Elise R (n/a). The Exige has the downforce kit alright, but the spoiler is attached to the body and not to the chassis, so its main purpose is probably to give a more aggressive look. Due to its slightly different body, the Exige has a higher drag coefficient than the Elise, resulting in a slower top speed. But just like they say that the Exige could take more speed through fast corners, it is also slower in other corners due to its higher weight...

both cars perform alike, and it often comes down to the driver. But comparing an Exige/Elise N/A with an Exige S or Elise SC is a different story!

I also like to add that the supercharged ones have more torque in the lower rpm band and the N/A's have to keep the revs beyond 6200 rpms to stay on the second "aggressive" cam (toyota 2ZZ-GE engine). This takes some getting used to.
