Porker:
I like it a lot actually, I have my reservations towards the front spoiler and the rear lights (easily fixed).
Just like everyone agrees, the pricing is absurd, but as there are only 250 cars supplied, that's not something Porsche needs to worry about..
I think you make a very important point (Porsche pricing it high and not having to worry about seeling it because such limited numbers). How long does Porsche think it can carry on taking the pi.. out of its most loyal customers. This 911 is clearly aimed at the longtime Porsche fans. Those for whom a ducktail and some seventies style wheels mean something. These are people who understand that, whilst the product may be exclusive, it is certainly not worth more than a GT3 RS or a Turbo 2. As a Porsche fan myself, I resent this kind of milk-them-for-all-they're-worth attitude from Porsche. If I want real exclusivity, I'll go and buy a Ferrari. If I stay with Porsche, it's because they are the best real-world sports cars. And they are honest sports-cars. The company should be careful not to loose that image of honesty.

Love the interior. It's great to see something different from the leather or alcantara options which are becoming a bite stale IMHO as every car manufacturer now seems to offer them. Ruf did something similar with their targa Greenster concept.
The price is bonkers though

[..] you get a (to me) atrocious mix of old and new. The Fuchs style wheels that don't suit a 997 at all. The ducktail that just looks frankly odd on a modern car, as does the wierd exhaust layout.
I agree. If this edition would have come from the common tuner such as Gemballa, comments would´ve assumedly been much more drastic right at the beginning. Have looked at those pictures a couple of times today but cannot get a grip on all these details.
I cannot even understand some of these details as they don´t seem coherent. The interior is nice but there has been a number of personalized cars from Porsche Exclusive with a similiar layout already.
The only issue provoking my ire is the price. The car reminds me of my late 60s early 70s youth when I became simultaneously infatuated w/ Porsches and girls. Sometimes I think we've become too cynical and jaded. Granted it's largely a parts bin exercise at an exorbitant price, but I like many of the parts and I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I'd lose the stripes and go w/ the standard tail lights, but otherwise it's nicely done.

I like everything, its a car I would definately buy, if it was in a bit lower in price than a gt3 ...
They have increased the price A LOT, due to the 250 exlclusive production !!!, but I love the ducktail, may be the rear led lights in white is a bit too tunning, it would have look better all in red colour !!!.
Those seats just look great !!!, the wheels are perfect !!!!, and it sounds really nice too... Although those exhaust are may be crossing the line in the design of the 997

It was a nice idea, BUT it should NOT be a wide body and the cloth should be Pascha or the old scottish plaid they used a long time ago.
The fuchs wheels in 19 are a nice touch as are the exhaust.
It's almost an early 80's 911 SC.
btw no 911 should have a wing any bigger than this.
I LOVE it !! ( Because I came of 911 age in late 60s/early 70s as a teen ) and I would buy it JUST for the " Fuchs " style wheels , like on my first 911 .The Nurburgring obsessed internet bench racing crowd here here who remember high school as if it were yesterday need not apply .
Badge engineering - the GM /Lambo/Lotus way, baby , LOL !

I think is fantastic, inside out ! But that price let it down . Also from the special web I think in the future we will be able to order those parts from the Porsche Exclusive ... so maybe not that colectible ... In that case the only think that remains collectible is the plaque Porsche puts on it....

Is this car only available with manual gearbox? Not clear if any options are allowed
YES. Manual only. Options? Only few according to German price list...
Well, there's not much left to add...

just what i had asked for a while back. however, they added RS style with posh luxury...pure contradiction.
the interior is stunning and should be standard fare on the 911 turbo.
love the ducktail and the rear exhaust.
front apron looks ricer as do the silly stripes. thought i had cayman edition in front of me.
the price is evil. what are they thinking ??

With two very tall guys wearing helmets you may get the same result when driving hard on a rough road
Or with one really big one resting on the roof.

You'll be able to buy the Fuchs wheels shortly. They were exposed during the Old Timer GP in Nurburgring and the Fuchs salesman told us the'd be available early next year.
997 GT3 RS
sure its weird, but its not that ugly. the problem is the price, when you see the price suddenly everything starts lo look kind of wrong. for that money you can get a GT2, so you expect much more than just a spoiler and a weird looking splitter. only very dedicated collectors i think will buy this car. someone who just wants, a porsche, would never choose this over a GT2. i would'nt.

Never thought of this method . You NBR guys know all the tricks!

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts
I remember ,somebody from Porsche told me some years ago that they didn't make any money from the 40 year 996 in spite of the 1963 units produced. He said they offered too much for little extra and they would be too careful with special editions in the future.
Therefore, now with only 250 units worldwide (a drop in the ocean IMO) they can charge anything and make good profit.

All jokes aside (and there were some good ones), the roof could be retrofitted. Since the 997.1 GT3 (non-RS) only came with sunroof in the US, many owners have retrofitted the closed European roof (just required some spot welding - very easy by a competent shop) or even a Carbon Fibre panel. This roof could be added fairly easily and it would give lots of helmet room
