    Re: Performance Table

    Alex_997TT:

I am sure my table is much better than 6speed equivalents though.  I wouldn't trust much written on that forum and I myself post there quite regularly!

    I agree...LOL

Alex, Toby...you've taken a simple criticism about data analysis and made it into a vendetta against 6speed.  If you want to make comparisons against magazines and other sources...that's fine.  But to criticize Scott and others at 6speed because they have more relaxed criteria when you yourself don't have ANY criteria is disingenuous. Period.

This has nothing to do with 6speed, its vendors, or my "6speed" style.  But since the two of you seem to insist, all I can respond is...you win...LOL...Smiley

No vendettas, I visit 6speed every day as a form of entertainment (hence me comparing to my favourite show TopGear).  And with regards to that link I think you will find I quickly corrected myself on a subsequent post - a rare thing indeed for 6speed posters

What are you on about ? My "criteria" is as flat as I can find - I am not posting to gain any 6speed style cred or an extra star on my rating (how sad is that) people who have read my posts over the years know that I am as rigorous and forthcoming as possible (and give it a shot even if my technical language is lacking Smiley) and declare all warts and all.

I do it for fun and so others can compare with what they have paid for - it is the tuners who need to be called into account, snake oil is still being sold in large quantities and 6speed is THE market.....

    Totally with you there Toby

BTW you may want to master the use of the " button in the editing menu for deselecting and selecting quote sections.

I'm afraid I am bloody useless, I find it hard to work this site - I even managed to get the nice pic of your car in the last post Smiley

    Re: Performance Table

    TB993tt:

Regarding the CG 624PS car, this car just came second to a 700PS Techart 997GT2 wearing sport cups (CG car had street Dunlop Maxes) by 0.6s or was it 0.06s ? round the circuit - so this car is very healthy and alledgedly uses Secans - It is definately not as fast as one would expect 200-300kph, I did ask CG and RS at the time but didn't really get a satisfactlry response - RS said it was the higher drag of the spoilers, but then my GT2 is similarly draggy..... My guess is that the RS engine is mapped much more conservatively than than this "tune" I have, quite what that means for the long run practically I don't know but my car will never be subject to the thrashing that CG car gets....

Just compiled this from the results of the Sport Auto's Tuner Grand Prix 2009:

Tuner Car Based on PS Nm Tyres Average Fastest
    TECHART Automobildesign GmbH 997 GT Street RS GT2 700 860 Cups 1:08,037 1:07,709
Cargraphic Design GmbH 997 Turbo GT RSC 3.6 Turbo 624 826 Normal street 1:08,641 1:08,417
TECHART Automobildesign GmbH 997 GT Street R Cabrio Turbo 630   Cups 1:09,601 1:09,351
    Cargraphic Design GmbH 997 GT3 RSC 4.0 GT3 465 485 Normal street 1:09,748 1:09,641

So the CG Turbo was quicker than it's Cab TA counterpart by a second and it had slightly less horsepower and standard road tyres....

    Re: Performance Table

Hi Guys, wonder if anyone can help me here!

I have a FVD sports exhaust and thinking about getting their ecu. On the performance chart above, it says 0-100 is 3.4 sec but on FVD's own website is say 0-100 3.6 sec.  Does anyone else have any other data or should I just settle with the FVD website!  0.2 sec was not such a biggy until I saw the 997.2 tt times.

    Re: Performance Table

0-100 times are pretty meaningless these days. Ask them what their 100-200 time is (or 0-200 and minus the 0-100 time). That will give you a much better appreciation of the G-force you will feel.

    Re: Performance Table

thx Alex, i just got feedback from Rhonda at FVD, quick responce by the way, she is great!!

anyways FVD stage 2,  0-200 is 11.5 sec and 0-100 is 3.6 sec. so i guess 100-200 would be 7.9 sec. almost 1 sec off the performace table!

so Alex does ur car do 0-100 in 3.3 sec and 100-200 in 7.1 sec just with the ecu + exhuast + bmc, did u lighten your car alot

    Re: Performance Table

There's also a video floating around of a stage 2 FVD running a sub 28 second 0-300kph.  I wouldn't trust any of the data without knowing the conditions in which it was run.

    Hello bigwillystyle,

I'm the owner of the FVD Stage 2 - TIP car, i consistently run 0-100 3.4s 100-200 7.0s, i report my performance results to FVD Germany not FVD USA, maybe thats why Rhonda gave different performance figures.

    Re: Performance Table

    Hey Emre,

thanks for the update, wow those are pretty sweet timings!  For your stage 2, u have 200 cell exhaust, bmc and ecu only, or did u change to fvd headers also? one more question, did u have lighter seats and wheels?Smiley

    cheers,

    Will

    Re: Performance Table

I had cattless exhaust but it doesnt make a difference until 240-250kmh, i also had fvd headers.

Catted exhaust system is more responsive when driving off-boost and spool is little bit better compared to catless.

I have standard wheels and seats.

    Cheers,

    Emre

    Re: Performance Table

For those interested I passed a milestone the other day. My car did 100-200 km/hr in less than 6s according to my P Box. The exact time was 5.92s.12541033092245.92s 100-200 km hr.jpg

Sadly Alex removed it from Photobucket, does anyone still have it?

    Re: Performance Table

An alternative is this number-one site (most comprehensive) in the US for this type of data collection, listed below. The list is US-centric, and unfortunately the names of the tuners are not all clearly noted, but you could find out by searching & asking. The usual suspects are there, i.e. the big 4 of US tuning, alphabetically Smiley: EVOMS, GIAC, Protomotive, Swizer.
My understanding is that all times are time-slip and/or video proven. If you have any question, post there, don't ask me please as I have no affiliation with the people running the list and am not an expert in this matter.

For the fun of discussion, I should also point out that this type of list, by necessity, is all objective data. Crucial subjective information (how the car drives, etc.) is not included and will never be included in any list because of its, well, subjective nature. Having tried 2 different ECU tunes, I could say that they feel very different from each other and I expect this difference to extend across all the different companies.

The other date that will never be included, because of lack of a standard testing procedure, and much manipulation by all parties involved :-), are the dyno plot, which would yield crictial's information in the car's behavior as well IMHO.

Can include any Porsche street vehicle. At the bottom of this post I also have a list of 60-130 times and standing mile speeds.
When comparing the below numbers, please keep in mind that variances in temperature, humidity, track conditions, and driver ability, can all have a significant impact on the data.
For those that don't follow 1/4 mile drag racing; E.T. (Elapsed Time) is primarily a derivative of the launch, while Trap Speed (MPH achieved at the end of the run) is primarily a derivative of the amount of power being put to the ground on that specific track, that specific day. Trap Speed can be used tell you almost exactly how much hp your car is making at the wheels, assuming you use the correct calculations.
All that having been said; if you'd like a 1/4 mile run to be added to the list, please provide proof of the run. Only times from timeslips and/or video (preferably both) will be accepted for this list. No GPS based, datalogger 1/4 mile times will be accepted.

    Re: Performance Table

Does anyone know the times for the cargraphic 544ps? In addition is the engine with a gt1 block capable of providing longevity( if it's been rebuilt properly) when the horsepower exceeds 650ps? Thanks in advance.
