Lars997:Glad you like it Lars. By eck, that R8 is a bit slow. ;)
@ResB - great signature animation!
lol, that fizzed by. :) My mate has just sold his mini and got a Renault R26. He says it's very impressive, so much grip he was amased....rattles like a bag of spanners tho'
Ok, more updates.
Installed a rear strut bar for even more rigidity.
Added powerflex polyurethane mounts and bushes to all the mounts in the car. It vibrates a bit more, but wow the handling and steering response feels like a surgeon's blade now.
Also put in an aerogel blanket above the exhaust manifold to keep the engine bay temperatures low. Works like a charm!
An oil cooler is on it's way and I'm busy contemplating a meth kit.
Everytime time I time myself, this is the last one....

My oil cooler, lower thermostat, race cam, forge aluminum expansion and powersteering tank arrived today! I'll be busy on the weekend .
Will take some photo's once I get home.
I'm still waiting for water/methanol injection kit to arrive. Bought some new lightweight racing wheels and Cross coilover suspension kit. I really need to stop for a bit after tthis
LOL Tee
Thanks Joe, I have never "modified" any car before, I must say the bug has really bit me.
Photo of the oil cooler. It replaces the OEM heat exchanger.
The Forge tanks, my new thermo and the camshaft still in it's box behind them.

Hehe, so pleased to see this is still a live thread. Gunna have to come to the World Cup now and perhaps see the Mini in the flesh. ;)
Keep it up Mike, it'll be a feature in a car mag soon. :)

Be my guest Haha, so long as it's not in one of those "ricer" magazines
Ferdie:
Great to see how much effort you put into the car and documenting it for us.
I do not want to put a bug in your ear but why don´t you perform the same with an even more focussed machine, say a GT3?
I enjoy it, might as well share the experiences and at times I reflect back on this thread to remind me of when I got this car on day 1.
I will eventually run out of things to do, I've been itching to do something to the Exige now that I think of it
In anycase, here is the progress. I have had the car stripped since last Wednesday. I just don't get around to get enough time to finish putting the stuff in.
I actually just finished putting in the thermo and the adapting plate for the oil cooler tonight. It's 1AM!!
This is what the car looks like 30 minutes ago. My garage is a mess!
On the weekend, I trimmed the bumper to make sure the new large oil cooler would clear it. That's all done. Just testing the fit and it's good!
I hope to get more done tomorrow night after work. What a long day that's going to be. Oh, my water/meth system arrived - that will go in tomorrow as well.
My new coilovers and front + rear endlinks are on their way from NY. My lightened crank pulley (with damper) is also on it's way from Texas. The new lightweight racing wheels will be dropped at my house end of this week or the next

SciFrog:
I only have the standard LSD, my front tires are gone at 6k miles...
Hi Sci, that sounds normal. Mine last around there as well Maybe less.
I guess summer performances tires would help too, but I don't want to change them for the winter so I am stuck with the all season runflats...
Thanks Porker. I'm sure you will. A little time and patience is all you need. I was clueless, I normally call my old man and ask for advice (he used to own showrooms and was quite hands on in the workshop in his younger days).
I got the Forge tanks in today and the routing for the oil cooler done. Need to take the one intercooler horn tomorrow to be precision drilled for the nozzle of the water/methanol kit.
