    My first Ferrari

1248983349789All 3.jpgBought Bought this car with my father a few months ago - here's a pic of it with two friends' cars.  We were driving in Rocky Mountain National Park at 13,000 ft altitude (4,000 meters) - cars and drivers could barely breathe up thereSmiley  note: I'm the guy by the Pantera and a friend is leaning on my car.

    Re: My first Ferrari

Nice photos Grant. Thanks for sharing. I was on the "Col de la Bonette" last year (which is only 2802 m), and you could really feel the thin air and its effect at this kind of altitude.

4000 m is wow, just like your cars !

That's one hell of a car Smiley

Any mechanical problems ? I've been thinking of 575 lately

It's been quite reliable, once I sorted a few of the small issues upon purchase.  The standard service costs are quite high too (but much less than most Ferraris).  They are very solid cars.  575 usually has the F1 gearbox and those come with more frequent service issues, so I hear (like more frequent clutch replacements).

    Re: My first Ferrari

Congrats on getting your first Ferrari  Wishing you many happy miles in it

I have very fond memories of driving on the Trail Ridge Road through the Rocky Mountain NP - simply an awesome place - you're so lucky having that wonderful playground so near to you in Denver

And yes, one can certainly feel how thin the air is at that altitude

    Re: My first Ferrari

Very nice Grant, and an interesting colour. A great GT car! Enjoy.

    Re: My first Ferrari

The color is very hard to capture with a camera (it's not as dark as it looks in the first photo).  Sometimes the camera makes it look lighter or darker than how it looks in reality (which is a bit darker than "Rossa Corsa" Ferrari Racing Red, but not as dark as Porsche's Arena Red).  Also, it's non-metallic.

I think this photo gets the color about right:

Congrats Grant - I wish you very many happy miles in the Ferrari Smiley

Reminds me of a business partner who drove this model in the 90ies as a new car. I joined him as a passenger for quite some trips (always from Frankfurt to Cologne on the Autobahn). The guy used to smoke the pipe while driving at full speed and destroyed quite a few of his pipes with his teeth Smiley

Congrats grant! Very unsual colour, I like it for the GT Ferrari's!

    Re: My first Ferrari

A beautiful color and car. There really is no way to describe the feeling of owning and driving a Ferrari. Though at times temperamental, they make up for it in driving and sensory pleasure. A very unique ownership experience. For the first time in quite awhile, I am Ferrari less suffering withdrawal pains.

Grant, I wish you and your father many enjoyable Ferrari miles

Great car you have there , and with the Maranello one can drive long trips very comfortably. And for the track you have your 911
I love the Pantera. One of my favourites of all times .

    And great pic...just like home

    Re: My first Ferrari

Quite an about face for rennteam's lover of bare bones lightwieght racers to now own a luxo-barge.

My guess is you will be a convert to the GT side of the force. Great looking car inside and out. That smell btw is all the baseball glove like leather.

Enjoy and post pics more often.

05 612... Only 80 manuals around. I plan to never sell it as the prospect of shelling $400k for its new replacement doesn't excite me whatsoever.

Nice!  I saw an early 599 in TDF Blue with Racing Seats and manual box - the manuals are definitely a dying breed.  I think your car will be worth well more than an F1 in time. Smiley
