Re: Panamera - Not a good start

    EricAlain:

Real model designation was requested by marketing guys and dealers from emerging markets. They believe customers there are very keen to show what type/brand of car they are driving ....

I guess in Germany 95% will be "de-badged" ... If I was to buy one I would definitely de-badge it.

I thought there might be something like that behind it.

Since the de-badging option is available, it's no big deal.

Re: Panamera - Not a good start

I de-badged my new Cayenne Turbo S and am glad I did.  But during my recent three week trip through Germany, Switzerland and eastern France, every Cayenne I saw was badged.  In Provence where I live now, every Cayenne is badged.  I am not arguing the point, just giving some personal observations.

Re: Panamera - Not a good start

And to make it better "de-branding" is a "free" option.... I'm not sure about model designation ....

That makes a lot of sense now, I couldn't figure out why Porsche would place such a bling-bling "in your face" Porsche lettering on the back... not usually seen until now on their models.

Passed one on the road here a couple of days ago.  It really doesn't look so big when you see it "in the flesh".

I have not seen the Panamera key in person, but I like my Cayenne shaped key for my car.  Pretty cool, I think.

    Indeed!

It's just facinating to see all the special fixtures and automated monorail cranes at work.

When on earth is Porsche going to stop teasing and actually hand one of these to automotive magazines for a test drive??

And also, why the heck they are waiting until September to bring this car to the dealers. The car is introduced since months and to see on all streets in the world. Why to they wait any longer. I want to testdrive this ride.

September, really? The car entered production two weeks ago. Will all those cars be shipping to overpaid VAG executives or what? By now Porsche should already have hosted a press event where publicataions can give the car a proper try as ppossed to the lousy backseat ride Porsche gave them in April. It's a friend inviting you over to play a video game but you get to spend the majority of the time watching him play. Porsche is holding the car back as if it's the second coming of Christ.

    September....if Porsche still exists!

Re: Panamera - Not a good start

I had the chance to see the Panamera this weekend:

    - Car is approximately as large as I expected it to be. Similar proportions and dimensions as other large sedans (Audi A8).

    - Front and front-side view is absolutely great: rather low and wide. Excellent. Also the looks of the front lights is just perfect.

    - Side view... As in the pictures above the rear looks a bit "big". The rims (as those on the picture above) look great.

    - Rear view: not bad! A unique design.

    - Interior: nicely done. I would rank the interior quality on a similar level as a BMW 7 series or Audi A8. Fulfills expectations of potential buyers, I would say.

    - Interior space is amazingly large (exceeding my expectations).

The downside is that I could not drive the car nor listen to the new Burmester sound system (I would love to compare it to Audi's B&O).

Official Porsche claim is that the car is about 10s faster on a "typical" GP track like HHR-GP or Leipzig.

Only a test drive will tell whether this car really "feels" very different from existing offers.

Porsche will definitely exist. I am not so sure about WW and Haerter.

cleaned out and black accents. Doors open with the press of a button. Big doorhandles are ugly. Smiley

Re: Panamera - Not a good start

How about smaller, audi-ish tail lights. I HATE the current ones, so big and ugly shapped, as well as the dual white zones. All red lights would be a start.
