CloseWell I've done the deed and put the first deposit down on a new Cayman S. 
Delivery is for a MY10 car in September and the spec will be confirmed once I have had my session at PDE Silverstone, which hopefully will be in a few weeks.
BTW, there is a new standard steering wheel for MY10 which is like the PDK wheel but without the buttons (the GT3 configurator may give a clue). There is no sport wheel option now.

Thanks everyone. To answer your varied questions, I got a deal which I was pleased with. Also, I have driven the Cayman and Boxster back to back and prefer the feel of the Cayman. Not too suprising becasue generally, I prefer coupes to soft tops. But I'd be the first to admit the Cayman is poor value for money in comparison
Ah yes the agony. I've tried to telling colleagues that you have to suffer for your art - buying a new Porsche is an experience severely tempered by the misery, anguish and despair of too many options and not enough funds. My arguements fell on deaf ears, especially when I explained that you had to go to Silverstone to try all the different chassis options. 
Then there is the interminable waiting, which although ends with the joy of receiving your new toy, you still have to break the damn thing in.

Although to really do the job properly you need to opt for the factory collection - truly an unforgettable experience which makes your car even more special.
