I wouldn't call that a test drive. It was more like the usual "preview" where a guy from the marketing team drives the car, brain wash you with information from the press sheet while taking occasional jabs at the compeitor, expecting you to sit in the passanger need and nod your head in agreement with him.

Lotus have an illustrious history and good engineering but the rest of the world of sportscars has moved so far ahead that it's difficult to catch up.
However, VW not purchasing Lotus at the time was a missed opportunity for both.
