Ejecting a CD from PCM 2.1...stuck!!
Hi all.
Little story for ya.
Took my car in last week to have a health check, before giving the go ahead for the 111 point check so I can renew the extended warranty. I also needed an MOT so unless it passed this first then no warranty would be issued in any case.
The fun begins...
Firstly, the RMS has gone again (well, I was told it had) and two Coil Packs had cracked also. As the car was still under extended warranty both would be carried out FOC.
The health check also identified that my front discs were cracked and I'd used only 50% of the brake pads in 36,000 miles. As the front discs did indeed have stress fractures it was recommended to change the pads also. edit...forgot the filler flap was replaced also...
So, before I could extend the warranty for another year, I had to have the discs and pads replaced, RMS repaired, the Coil Packs replaced and of course an MOT!
The OPC did me a great deal on the discs and pads and brake fluid change also so I was chuffed with that. They did it cheaper than any independent. So kudos goes to them. Anyway, when the disc came off etc, it was found that the brake pad dampeners had fused themselves to the brake callipers on both sides. No matter what the OPC did they couldn't release them. Even soaking them overnight didn't work.
Porsche however agreed as a good will gesture to replace the callipers FOC as they are not covered under the extended warranty. Superb as at this point I was starting to squirm and become very uncomfortable with what appeared to be spiralling costs.
So, after all that I got the discs, pads, callipers, coil packs, filler flap and RMS replaced and was issued with an MOT and a new extended warranty.
Well, what happened today?
I started the car and a loud squeal came from what turned out to be the PCM. I cannot seem to eject the CD as it says no CD, or CD Changer. I've heard of this issue before and sure enough the OPC confirmed that the PCM module is probably shot!!!! Oh no thats all I need.....
Well, as you all know the old extended warranty, the one that has just replaced the RMS etc does not cover PCM, however, the new one does. How lucky was that??
Unless the CD is just jammed and somone from RT can tell me how to get the thing out.
