Local Porsche gathering and route (pics)

This weekend we had a local gathering of about 50 Porsches cars in total. Thought I'd share some pictures.

First we all gathered inside a fortress on the north of Portugal next to the spanish border to have breakfest.

We had a reserved parking for the ocasion

The view from the breakfast/hotel inside the fortress. The other side of the river is Spain, connetced by a bridge designed by Eiffel.

Then we left to do a fun route of a prox 120km that covered many of the roads of the old Rallye of Portugal were beasts like Group B rallye cars competed back in the day.

Widebody 911's butts cut it very close to fitting through the doors of the fortress

Amazing curves and asfalt, and little towns in the mountains in between. The group soon got divided into several groups depending on the rithm of the drivers.

Halfway we had a stop to regroup. The first group that got there awaited and we ejoyed the view

More started to come

Time to head back over to Spain.

Parked over at the yearly Auto Show and left the cars there in reserved parking before all going to the restaurant in bus so that there would be no problem with wine & spirits and driving

Nice long lunch

Then we headed back to the motor show and had a look inside to the cars/brands exposed before returning safely to our homes.

Turned out to be a great day due to the weather, amazingly "fun, fun, fun" route, friends, and lunch.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing I love the the green 911, and the front looks so good !!!!! Seems to be a great place to drive and I^m impressed by the greenery and the yellow spring flowers look superb.

One of the things I like about Rennteam is the photos the members share from the different parts of the world since its so international.

Its frequent place for photos due to the views, mine is shot a bit higher from the terrace at the breakfast and here is the view to the left side

I love the the green 911, and the front looks so good !!!!!

I loved that car too! turned out that I had it in front of me the first half of the route and I was amazed because the driver was able to spin the rear tires over and over coming out of the hairpins going uphill! . The driver was experienced and the car cornered very flat with only 900kg weight aprox, so it was perfect for that type of roads were it was one curve after the other in 2-3rd gear. Would of preffered to be driving that than my 997S instead Here is a picture of the front

you would of liked the route, amazing rallye type roads with no traffic at all. And for me its in these times the most when I enjoy more the manual tranny in the car, it was a blast and involving downshifting and upshifting constantly with 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th gear corners. Made it so much more fun.

As for the old 911 enjoying to corner with spinning wheels: I've learned my lesson during a group drive with these - it's better to keep some distance when driving behind them Smiley

gotta love a 30 year old sportcar being driven like that without any worries and purchased for that purpose... you don't see that in other brands.

Agreed! The NW corner of the iberian peninsula, encompassing Minho in Portugal and Galicia in Spain, is beautiful and crisscrossed with wonderful roads.

Here is one of my favorite roads, this photo was taken this month 4 years ago when the car was only days old, and was one of the first things I did to try the car ... 4 years... time flies by...

You know who to call if you do

Its a nice area less known internationally being on the opposite side of the Mediterranean so there is less mass tourism as opposed to the east coast. The island off the coast you see on the far left corner of the photo (Cies Island) was featured in a Guardian.co.uk article about beaches:
