more pics of lava grey Turbo S

P1010710.JPG Here are more pics of our new Turbo S that we picked up in Leipzig last week.  Fantastic car, wonderful color, a dream to cruise in during our trip through Germany, Switzerland and France.  Factory pick up was perfect, and I will be happy to answer questions and give recommendations.

Favorite options--pano roof (thanks Mark!), leather defroster vents, rear DVD system (since it keeps the kiddos entertained while my wife and I can enjoy vistas and conversation.

I will post some more later, and welcome any questions or comments!P1020035_2.JPGP1020099_2.JPGP1020100_2.JPGP1020103_2.JPGP1020023_2.JPGP1010729.JPGP1020029_2.JPG

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

The Cayenne looks great from the front and especially yours. Nice color choice.  But the side is severely hampered by the wheels being undersized, the GTS version fixed that.

The countryside is very beautiful with that lush green grass and evergreen trees. Thanks for posting.

     nice car.... enjoy good ride...

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

The wheels are 21 inch sport wheels.  I don't think they come any larger from the factory, on any model.  if they do, let me know--thanks...

    Hi Wonderbar,

Congratulations, lovely looking car almost as nice as mine (kidding, you have the Turbo S !!!!!)

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

Thanks to all for your congratulations.  After 10 days of driving on the autobahn, in cities and in foggy, rainy conditions, here are a few impressions:

    1.  The car is rock solid in every situation, so easy to drive with confidence.

    2.  The interior is extremely comfortable and well designed.  My wife and two children have all commented that they have never been in a more comfortable, relaxing car.

3,  The car has created no obvious or unwanted attention.  (Not sure if that is a compliment or not!).  I would like to think it is because the color does not say "look at me", and because I drive it with consideration for others.  In fact, I seem to be ignored completely, especially by smaller everyday sedan drivers who blast past me consistently at speeds often in excess of 125 MPH.  I find it ironic that people supposedly resent SUVs or Porsches, but drive their everyday cars at high speeds and with clear impatience for others.

    4. At high speeds, the car drinks a lot of fuel, but at normal speeds on back roads and in urban conditions, the consumption seems quite reasonable.

    5.  In automatic mode, the car is a bit unresponsive (even with the sport button in use).  I am more and more using the manual/tiptronic wheel buttons.

    6.  At first I missed the thrill of walking up to a sports car ( I last had a Carrera 2S and a 996TT).  A Cayenne is just not a 997 variant.  But I have come to really love this car, both for its looks (I know many folks say its ugly) and its truly sophisticated power and design.  Maybe I am just getting old, but for my family and me at this time in my Porsche ownership career, the car is superb.

    7. What would I want differently?  More precise responsiveness (a super sport function), and a sport exhaust option.  But that would change the character of this superb car...

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

really exhaustive comments!at point 6 i think you make a good explanation of what the Cayenne is born for..

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

    Hi Wonderbar,

Thank you for your first impressions, great to hear that you and your family like the CTTS. Indeed she is a very sophisticated car and a brilliant tourer. So confortable at higher speeds, luckily I don't have to worry with the fuel at 40 Euro Cents per liter.

You have 550hp on the bonnet my friend, I think my CTT is a rocket ship and many 911's (non turbos) are amazed with the sheer speed I can do (OK in a straight line but the PDCC is brilliant). OK I haven't had any 911's before so I don't really know what I am talking about but guess what? my GT3 is on the books for early next year.

When I went to Leipzig prior to delivery of my CTT, I met a family who picked up there Red GTS, great experience 'factory delivery' and even better to spent 10 days getting the first impressions.

Again great looking car, well spec'd (you opted even to go for the leather seat mounts, nice!!) assuming your steering column is leather as well?

    Have a great day.

    Cheers,

    Mark

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

Thanks Mark.  Yes the steering column is leather as well.  Also, I got the illuminated door sills option, which is really attractive.  Finally, the keyless door entry option makes fumbling for keys an anachronism.

Any hints on what wax to use?  Waxing a Cayenne is certainly going to be a larger job than a 997!

Re: more pics of lava grey Turbo S

The Cayenne Turbo S Facelift is definetely a beautiful car, it looks much better than the first gen Cayenne Turbo S I own. I actually never liked the Cayenne design too much but I think that the facelift already improved a couple of design elements and the next gen Cayenne is going to be a real beauty from the many concept pics I saw and that one short peak on the real thing.

I understand you very well regarding the qualities of the Cayenne, my thoughts exactly.

The Cayenne Turbo S is almost the perfect family car in my opinion and compared to the new Panamera Turbo and its very high price tag, almost a bargain (well, not really but still...).

The next gen Cayenne will have a lot of the interior of the new Panamera, so there is definetely going to be a huge improvement regarding the interior, incl. the same sound system options and many other things available for the Panamera.

My 997 Turbo lease runs out in two years, so I will have a couple of choices for a new family car. I can't afford two expensive toys, so there is going to be only ONE expensive family car which needs to satisfy my needs and of course those of my family. Tough choice.

For many years I was for Carnauba waxes (zymol)  - now this new gen. of Hi-Tech paint         sealant / waxes are so much better and far far easier to use .

    hi Wonderbar,

Again fantastic looking car and indeed the steering wheel as well as the illuminated door sills look really nice (mine only spell turbo thoughSmiley)

Waxing the car is an enormous job and from the start I didn't want to take it on (getting too old you know). I opted to go for a 'Protech' treatment, I think it is available across the globe but the car is basically professionally polished, it's not cheap as Protech as well as weathershield set me back almost a 1000 Euro. Weathershield is a thin transparant film applied to the stone chip prone areas (front bumper, lights, some do bonnet). The result are really stunning as they basically polish out all the imperfections and the paint finish becomes very smooth and really shines. The application hardens the paint coat protecting it from sunlight and minor scratches. I had some birdpooSmiley on my bonnet and when I tried to take it off a very sharp granual made a 10cm scratchSmiley don't tell me how they did it (had to drop the car off) but the scratch is gone and believe me it is really gone (amazingSmiley).

It car is so shinning that I won second running up (OK third) in our Porsche Club elegance competition last month. I was really shuffed !! I'll scan a picture soon.

Again, congratulations with the CTTS and enjoy !!!!

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Hi RC,

Pardon my ignorance but would you recommend leasing? I would like two 'toys' as well and I if I keep my CTT08, it will be a struggle to pay for my GT3 (ordered for Jan10 delivery). The CTT is mine (still cannot believe my luck as I sold my Shell shares in May08 at 21,45 pounds just before the credit crunch, also the pound was very high against the Omani Rial so I got even more rials at the time. My CTT is devaluating actually slower than my portfolio would have doneSmiley

Indeed Porsches are not cheap but I have the impression that spending say 100k in one go is cheaper that say xxxx per month, I am probably wrong. Would you lease again?

    Cheers,

    Mark

You should not stretch to buy these toys. There are nice ones for less money out there (Elise, M3, C63, GT-R)...

SciFrog, I fully agree about not overstretching as the CTT will go it I cannot make it justifiable. There are some good alternatives out there but non (IMO) are coming close to the new GT3. I have had BMW's my whole live and would love a M3 but the big lumpy V8 in the M3 just doesn't do it for me. Not sure about the Elise or GT-R. The C63 is fantastic but............ My intension is to take the GT3 with me when we are move on (not that we are moving on as jet)
