Are they 24's? It's better than OE but just accentuates the massive size.

    I agree...too big.

RUF actually plans to offer a whole Panamera tuning program and a very sporty RUF Panamera. With some luck we may get the chance to be one of the first to drive it and write a little review over here.

Then it would be a different car . Panamera is the lightest car in his class.

It may be a the lightest car in its class, but 2045kg for the Turbo and still 1875kg for the standard Panamera S isn't exactly what I would call "light". Smiley

I´m taliking about a relation not an absolute value.

But it isn´t possible to put all this things in a car and to be under 2.000 kg. No way.

True, but an Audi S8 or RS6 is lighter, an Alpina B7 BiTurbo about the same weight and even an AMG S 63 not much heavier. Smiley

I think that they weight nearly the same. Because Leergwicht and EU-DIN.

For your information, Panamera S or 4S is much faster on Nordschleife then RS6.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the use of a better Ring-time for that type of car... Smiley

Sorry but the RS6 is at least one class under Panamera and the S8 is not on the same level. Panamera combines luxury at upper level (nearly Bentley level) with performance.

The Ring-time show us how good performance they have achieved. If this doesn´t matter why we have a 612 or various DB-cars.

    Re: Ruf's on Panamera

IMO the Panamera doesn't fall into any class. It will carve its own niche. The AMGs and the S8 are just more powerful versions of mainstream saloons and no matter how good an S class is, to the eyes of many it is still a glorified taxi. The S8 is a bigger S4 as far as impressions are concerned.

Whether good or bad, perceptions are also important (given the substance) when you spend much above 100k Euro.

The Panamera will be unique and a sports/luxury/iprestige combination that has not been known until now. Perhaps yes, Bentley has some of this concept.

BTW, the Lamborghini won't make it into production and the Rapide will cost some 50% more for what I predict 70% of the Porsche's competence.

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts

    Re: Ruf's on Panamera

Panamera is not the lightest in its class. The 514HP Merc CLS65AMG, direct competitor to the Panamera Turbo, is 1905kg. And the CLS350CGI version, competitor to the Panamera V6, is 1735Kg (with heavy 7-speed auto-tranny included).
These are CE weights (with 90% full fueltank & 70kg driver included).

    Re: Ruf's on Panamera

The CLS in various guises is a pleasing car based on the E-class.

However, the CLS  is not a great drive for demanding drivers. In theory it is a competitor because it appeals to the same income group but not to the same type of people within this segment.

In theory the CLK AMG is a competitor to the Carrera, but of course in practice this is not true.

It all depends on what the driver demands.

I found the CLS55 to be a GREAT point and shoot car, step on it and there isn't really another car that can gives me the instant torque that pin me to the back on the seat, corner comes just slam the brakes and the car stops almost instantly. Granted it can't corner fast but who care when after the corner and you step on it, there isn't really a car that you can't pass before the next corner.

I am a demanding driver, I demand my car to gives me a ton of down low torque the instant I want it, I don't want to wait for the engine to wind to 7000rpm before giving real power, because by that time the car I want to pass is long gone.

Pardon me but we have no Track times / performance figures confirmed by an independance source yet.  We rightly point out to the silly marketing strategy of various brands stating lap times as communication tools, and to the naive people taking them for granted.  The GT-R is the latest and greatest example.  There is no double standard and we should not consider any rumored lap times / performance figures for the Panamera seriously until a serious, independant and exhaustive test is being conducted (read: Sport-Auto Supertest).

Sorry Carlos, even you bolded direct you are totally wrong. Panamera and CLS are two different pair of shoes and can´t be compared. Yes of course you could compare CLS AMG with Bentley GT but I doubt that a Bentley buyer would seriously compare it to a CLS before  buying his car .

Do you compare a CLS with MB CL class?

The CLS and the Maser Quatroorte are tha Panamera's closest competitors. The Bentley GT, well, thats on a different league than the Panamera, Maser or CLS.
