Pentium:
Yes Rossi. But does it look turbo? I believe not. At least not from this picture...
What do you drive these days?
Myself I don't know what to do next, for the first time in my life (with regards to cars of course).
I am tempted by the new GT3 and the future F470, equally.
--
There is no try. Just do.
Pentium you are so right, I'm exactly in the same situation (and some others here as well, I guess).
I'm torn between the F470 and the new GT3, which is a fantastic car. I really don't know.
F470 will be a great car, no doubt about it, but will it be worth the money? Saying is, that it will be in the price range of a 599 for example.
For less than half the money you can get the GT3 Mk2, which is really an all time great IMO, the first Porsche in years from which I would say that. Or you buy an R8 5.2, same performance and perfect build quality, but supercar looks.
Ferrari could be a bit of a problem for me in the future. Though surely a great car, I'm no fan of the California, I don't want a SL from Ferrari, then I would rather get an AMG-SL. Scuderia is great, no doubt about it, but simply not my type of car. I don't really like the race-bred type of car (same goes for Porsche's RS models, but not GT2/3), don't like missing carpets and visually bad welding seams. For what you get more in comparison to the standard F430 it's heftily overprice as well.
As said before, I really don't know. I think I will wait and see how this F470 will look like and then I will decide. I have absolutely no clue at the moment.
BTW, from the pic I would say F470 is no turbo, but that's what we all expected, right?
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
It looks like we share the same thoughts
One comment though: Scuderia it's not overpriced. It's a completely different animal compared with the F430. Don't even get me started on the gearbox&differential for instance. They are a world apart from the standard car. And CF cost a lot. You know that
On F470: If they make it a turbo I'm out. GT3.mkII for me. Also I need to think seriously if I want a DSG box on a Ferrari. Well, I will let you know after I will testdrive the F470 Whenever that may be.
Stefan,
I agree with you. Potential price of F45(7)0 is the problem for me-over €240K in Germany with nice options is way too much-no matter how good new car will be. Look it this way for the same money you can get:
1. Audi R8 5.2 FSI manual with full options + VW Passat CC V6 full options as daily driver
or
2. Porsche 997.2 GT3 with full options + Audi S4 S Tronic with full options as daily driver
F45(7)0 must be something truly breathless design and technical wise to justify that(huge) price.
What is really interesting that none of us(you, Pentium or me) is talking about 997.2 Turbo with PDK as potential choice.
Kreso, I hate turbos man. I believe they are soul-less. No character. Just brute force. Nothing to tame in a Turbo. Perhaps the GT2. But I rather be slower and hear the sound
In the end all these cars are for FUN. Not for cruising.
Kreso, 997.2 Turbo PDK would only be an option if I was looking for a sportscar and daily driver IN ONE. Or let me put it this way: if you have to drive huge distances, but want to do this in a sportscar instead of a powerful sedan like M5, RS6 etc.
But since the car should be fun to drive and will only be used at special occasions, GT3, R8 5.2 and (maybe) F470 are the far better choices.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
Like all of you, I am very leary going forward with Ferrari. If the mule is close in resemblance to the 430 replacement, then I will not get another Ferrari. I love the brand but to justify its cost it has to offer a hell of a lot more than incremental power and same styling.
When I was at the dealership, they asked if I was interested in test driving the Scud they had for sale which had 600 miles on it. I declined because I have driven the Stradale and though a wonderful car it was not my type. Very raw. Stefan is right; the car is for a special type of driver of which I am not.
Though loath to admit it, I have been reconsidering Porsche particularly the Turbo. The GT3 is a terrific car but it is raw and has a juvenile look to it with the tail on the back. The new MB SLS also would be a car to consider though I wasn't crazy with the gull wing doors and the very long hood.
Like tthe rest of you I will wait and see.
Like everyone else i cant wait to see the new car. I just don't understand why so many people are against the turbo? the F40 was a turbo and we all praise it and label it as one of the best Ferraris ever.
@Nick: I agree with SciFrog, you want an Aston, you just don't know it yet.

yes :)
KresoF1:Hmmmm, would you call the F40 a "Riceria" With its one ... two ... three exhaust ports.

If that is true then I am not interesting in F470 Riceria...
No matter how good will it be.
Continuing on trip's point, also note the position of the airboxes in the back of the F40 and compare their position with the two rear decklid scoops on either side of the latest (red) 450 mule. Evidence is beginning to point toward a turbo...or two...which could have easily been beneath the bodywork, and therefore unable to be seen in that engine close-up.

Mmh good eye, we hadn't noticed that before because we never thought to compare this car with the F40 on a picture. Maybe it will be a turbo after all. which is perfectly fine by me, the F40 was a turbo and we all love it.

If It's a Turbo I'm not a customer, I'll keep my F430.

Did you get rid of the Spider?
I cant blame you for adding a Turbo to compliment the Spider, best of all worlds imho!

According to Swiss dealer the new car is non-turbo, 580 hp. Design like small Enzo! Car will be launched in March/April 2010 to give way to US introduction of California in August/september 2009. Best looking modern Ferrari ever! (at least according to him).
Also coming: 599 Scuderia (!) hence the 599 XX as a warm-up
