The mesh on the vents is a new styling element for Porsche. I think we'll see more of it in future designs.
I hope it is metal wire and not plastic. Does anyone know?

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts
It's more than a styling element - all sorts of garbage ends up in there without the screen (it's metal).

I've been today near The Geneva show and what have i seen parked with Germans number................................... What was it? Blue color, Uge ugly wing, Wheels like in the race or like the Carrera GT, the one you can get of really quickly............. What was it........................
Yes, yes The new GT3. I guess it was a guy from the P factory. Well i didn't really like the shape of the car. But lucky him. He got already......
Just been with my OPC in the UK. The GT3 997.2 is now on their internal config builder and ordering system.
I have just played around building my car with the dealer (My deposit has been in for a while i just don't want to take the car until next year as my Carrera S is only 7 months old !). The Front lifting system , and dynamic engine mounts are not on the system yet as they are not available until October.
GT3 £81,914
Leather £1,780
Folding Bucket Seats £1,939
PCCB £5,677
PCM £1,904
Telephone £512
Sound Package + £380
iPOD £217
Floor Mats £70
Also although not on this forum, there was some debate about PSAM being standard this time (It was on the last UK spec GT3). The sales info we were all given in the UK said it was an option, however i can confirm it is standard UK spec.
I am also waiting for next year before i take the car as i might change my order to RS.

PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) was standard on the 997 GT3 Mk1 and is standard on the 997 GT3 Mk2. Not options but standard spec.
PSM (Porsche Stability Management) was never available on the 997 GT3 Mk1. The 997 GT3 Mk1 was only fitted with TC (Traction Control) as standard (not an option).
The 997 GT3 Mk2 is the first GT3 to be fitted with PSM. It is standard spec (not an option).

I agree but check out page 8 of the GT3 997.2 launch brochure (if you have a copy) It clearly stated:-
"For even greater stability , there's the optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)"
This was what was causing a debate on porkers.co.uk a while back... The issue is the sales book was printed before UK spec agreed in full, and hence based on German spec cars.

Cayenne Turbo - Mini Cooper S - 997 GT3
Hi Cram, I was at the show all day today and on my way into the parking i actually passed by that same blue new GT3 with BB-EM Weissach plates. That same guy, who was also back on his way to Stuttgart at the same time i was, perfectly answered every question about the new car and its improvements. It was amazing! All he could say about the RS was due to lots of work it will come out in 2010 and it will be seriously improved over the GT3, much more than the difference between the previous cars. They aim to compete with the Scuderia..
have you been to the show or just passed by it?
greets!

PinKchampagnE:
Can't wait to read the first reviews.
the guy i mentioned before who drove to the show and back in the new GT3 was heavily involved in the production of the new GT3, or in fact all cars developed at Porsche Motorsports in Weissach (all GT cars). He said even though the previous car was amazing everywhere they managed to improve its stability and downforce dramatically. the downforce is almost thee times!! as high as in the GT3 mk1. also the rear break cooing system was imroved through a new pipe, whic will be available for the mk1 as soon as the mk2 will be on sale! amazing news considdering the rear brakes wear out a lot quicker than the front ones.
the brakes are also improved, not only cause their 380mm now but because they managed to loose some extra weight, even on the GT3-PCCB version.
from the technical part there is no doubt that the new GT3 outperforms the current one quite a bit. on the nordschleife its runs about 8 secs. faster (around 7:40). However it will still be seen because the car wasnt copletely finished at that time last year and they werent able to test under good conditions this year yet.
greets!

Thought exactly the same, when I read it in the configurator.
