Lingo

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to this forum and finding it to be a great source of information, pictures, advice and dialogue. Smiley

When I read certain posts, I am finding that I need to learn some new lingo or acrynimes for Porsche words.

Besides FL, which I now understand means "face lift", can someone tell my what "MY" stands for? Smiley

Also, any others you can provide would be appreciated.

Manufacture Year ie. MY2009 runs from Sept 2008 to Sept 2009 I believe.

Model year, actually, which can start earlier than September if a new model is introduced.

That is, a new model with production start-up in May 2008, for example, could still count as MY 2009

Sure! Smiley Works well enough both ways in English.

The direct German equivalent fo the abbreviation "MY" is "MJ" (for Modelljahr). The alternattive interpretation would not work then because the German for "Manufacturer" would be "Hersteller".

PS: Surely, to have everything it would have to be a Porsche Carrera? Smiley

Facelift - revised version (i.e. the Carrera and Boxsters have just been revised for a second generation).

This word facelift we are using in German for the revised car generations. I know its english, but it is used everywhere! ;)
