Mine also may need replacing. I've done 35k miles and there is still 50% still on them, but the discs are cracked to hell. So, new discs, pads and associated items for me over the nexrt few weeks.

Sounds like they are just glazed....? Should be good for a *lot* more than 10k
Get out onto a traffic-free open stretch of road and do several hard stops from as high a speed as possible.
That should take the layers of glazed friction pad material off both rotor and pad faces, thereby eliminating squealing noise and improving brake response.
