Dear US owner, Please educate me on the extended warranty
I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a used 996.
My intention is to find a private owner with a well-maintained car that is still under basic warranty. The next step would be to purchase an extended warranty to protect my behind from all the RMS issues.
My experience with GM extended warranty, GMPP, was great. There are dealers that sell it for about 50% of the list value. I purchased a 7y/65K, 0 ded, GMPP for just over $1K.
However, the local P-car dealer said that porsche doesn't sell extended warranty per-se and the best they can do is to do CPO on my car at a cost of $2K. CPO will extend the warranty by 2 years, and there are no other options or alternatives.
Is this really the case? Is the situation that dark?
