Evo magazine interview with Wolfgang Hatz, the new head of R&D at Porsche...
"I think we have to improve the emotional side of the regular 911, to give a more GT3-type feel throughout the 911 range, while still remembering the 911 is a car you can use every day, should you want to..."

Love this interview. Intelligent, performance focused, true to Porsche mission and tradition. I particularly like the emphasis on improving the emotional side of the 911, which I interpret as better sound, quickness, sport characteristics and design. Very exciting...
Great interview. His answers sound very promising for the future.

I think on this picture we actualy are able to see a headlight as is gonna be.I compared existing headlights to the one we can see on 991.The lens(advanced) are placed almost on top of the headlight on 997 and 997 Mk2.If so,we can see a minimum of the camouflage. The thing that was mostly changed is the angle of the light perspect.I think after the camo will be removed,we wont see a big change from what we able to see at this stage.

Thanks Boxster Coupe GTS... Agree with him on Turbo S. There is not enough "Porsche sound " in the current model, plus it needs a six speed manual transmission.

Disagree. If any model of the Porsche range is the perfect match for the PDK, then it is the Turbo. The combination of the lossless gear change of the PDK with the thrust of the Turbo is just perfect, especially if we're talking about a car like the comfortable Turbo.
Six speed for Porsche's GT-models and the choice between manual and PDK for the rest is ideal IMO.
Concerning the allegedly non existent sound of the Turbo, I actually find the sound very pleasing. If you push the car, it makes a very impressive, mighty sound, but you can also drive it very quietly, which is a good thing if you ask me.

The 20" wheels are a little too much IMHO, I think the 19" are already more than large enough. What is the aftermarket going to offer, 21" or 22"? Doesn't this seem a bit cartoonish at some point? Perhaps I'm just behind the times.

According to CAR Magazine the 6 manual transmission will come with a 7th gear for increased efficiency. My guess is it will be on the left side of the H patter out of the way of the performance gears. I'm not sure where CAR got that idea, but we'll see! Oh, and it might be hard to see, but the 911's in those spy shots have slight 80's style front fender bulges!
Also, if you look closely at the Boxster's front and rear fenders, they don't have the traditional sloping curve, but are rather 918 style.

+1 here too.
Another problem with the larger wheels is that they make the brakes look puny. Especially the rear ones. More of a motorcycle look...

Good catch. I don't see much of that sculpting on the 911 front fenders.
Ironically, it seems to me that this Boxster front end is a better match to the 911's sculpted rear, with its less organic, more angular shape...
