Nissan GT-R on Norwegian winter roads (video)

A Norwegian exotic car dealer has imported a GT-R from the US of A, and a online car magazine has driven it in pretty extreme conditions as you can see in the video.

The car is fitted with  Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow, 255/40-20 front and 285/35-20 rear, winter tires.

(No you yanks, all season tires are useless in real winter conditions)

They were pretty impressed with how the car behaved in winter conditions, easy to drive and control. If you really want to know what they wrote, I'm sure you can use Google Translate.

Here's the link, the video is at the bottom part of the page:

Oh, and the price in Norway? A cool (literally) 200k Euro/250k USDSmiley

Re: Nissan GT-R on Norwegian winter roads (video)

Do you have any idea why it is that expensive? Do they expect it to not endure the conditions in norway?

Car taxes are high in Norway.

"In Norway, after the importer has its way with setting the price [of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S], and after tacking on the 24 percent sales tax, then adding the engine dimension surtax and finally the horsepower surtax, the price will come to roughly E250,000, or $297,000."

Oh yes, since we don't produce any cars in Norway, but have to import all of them, the goverment has gotten away with adding "luxury tax" to cars for many years (the bastards), and now they make up such a large portion of the goverment income that they depend on them to balance the budget. We pay app 6 billion euro in car taxes a year, and don't forget that we are only 4 mill people...

The taxes are divided into weight, enginevolume or CO2 and horsepower tax. Especially the horsepower tax is very unfair/insane since it has no relation to emissions and is a pure luxury tax (since the goverment tries to defend the high taxes with environmental impact).

One example: A BMW 330i has lower consumption and emissions that a Golf 2.0, but because the 330i is much more powerful than the Golf you pay more in horsepower tax on the 330i alone than what you have to pay for the whole GolfSmiley

Here's the list of what we pay in import tax on new, and used, cars. All prices in NOK, when you get above 130kw (176 hp) we pay 1686 NOK, app 200 euro, pr KW above that...

    Weight 2006
First 1150 kg. 35,36 pr. kg.
Next 250 kg 70,72 pr. kg.
Next 100 kg 141,43 pr. kg.
Everything above 1500 kg. 164,49 pr. kg.
    Volume
First 1200 ccm 10,44 pr. ccm
Next 600 ccm 27,33 pr. ccm
Next 400 ccm 64,29 pr. ccm
Everything above 2200 ccm 80,31 pr. ccm
    Horsepower:
First 65 kW 136,57 pr. kW
Next 25 kW 498,11 pr. kW
Next 40 kW 996,52 pr. kW
Everything above 130 kW 1686,36 pr. kW
