SciFrog:100% agree. If the car is significantly heavier (as it appears) there is no room for this car. Only explanation for its existance: lack of 430 orders and the need to utilize the factory...
179 lbs heavier than the scud coupe... Better than 7.45 around the ring?
MKSGR:Apparently the successor is delayed a bit so they're probably just milking the current 430 with a more limited production Spider. I'm sure all 500 will be spoken for. Other than a few do-dads on it so they can charge more, the car doesn't really seem to warrant a Scuderia badging.

Ferrari is developing a dual clutch 7 speed gearbox, read it in evo magazine a couple of issues ago, but they said it would appear in the california.
However it appears to be debuting in this car if you believe worldcarfans.com:

Makes some sense to further differentiate from the scuderia, but not sure on this!

"Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment."
I think it's a mistake. The DCT of the California is a 7 speed gearbox, so it can't be this.
The F1 of the F430 (and Scuderia of course) also uses a dual clutch. That was the difference to the old F1 of the Modena: the dual clutch in the F430 makes the gear change softer, but of course it is no true dual clutch transmission. Furthermore it would make no sense to adapt the DCT of the California for a model, that will be build only 499 times.
So the Scuderia Spider will definitely have the F1-Superfast-gearbox of the Scuderia.
SciFrog:
It is still lighter than a GT3...
GT3 weight is 1,395 kg according to the DIN method and 1,470 kg according to the EU norm (i.e.incl. driver of 68 kg and 7 kg for luggage)
Ferrari quote dry (1340 kg )and kerb(1440 kg) weights and are not clear on what basis threy have been measured.

REALZEUS:I posted an explanation for this price hike on another thread last month. The car is going to have the carbon fibre front (central front wing and headlight surrounds), side skirts in carbon fibre (painted), carbon fibre rear diffuser and carbon steering wheel with LED's as part of it's standard spec. That accounts for £19,000 of the price hike then you have the normal spider premium plus a premium for the limited run I guess.
Price in the UK... £202,000. That's nearly 30k Pounds more than the coupe...

FERRARI RULES!!!
hey guys back from a week of absence from the forum.
i rather like this car. besides the normal 430 spider is comparable to the coupe in performance figures, so if th Scud spider can acomplish that then it will be a benchmark for convertibles.
