    PCM Voice Contol

    Does anyone have any experience with the new for 09 PCM Voice Contol option?  I have it in my BMW and it works great.  But I fear the 911 may be too noisy for voice control to be effective.  Anyone know?

    If no one else replies, I can tell you in about 3-4 weeks once my car gets here and I've tested it.  I have no idea how well it works in other cars, but will be able to report on how it works in the 997.2 Targa.

    In summary, I would argue that the voice control works well up to approx. 120-130kph or so. At higher speeds the interior noises have a noticeable impact on the voice control. Anyhow, the systems works better than most voice controls on the market. I would order it anytime again Smiley

    Got Voice Control in my MY 09 CS and on the whole it works well even at higher speeds. Quite a good system overall.  I'm certainly pleased I specc'd it especially for the audio / phone interface.

    Will do.  I'll put the navigation, bluetooth and voice control through its paces once the car arrives and report back.  Those were specific feature upgrades I was holding off on a 911 purchase for.

    Getting past the XM antena location will take some work.. makes me want to scratch my own forehead every time I see it.

    I can't believe that voice control works.

    Voice control is one of those subjects that are promised since the 70ies but never actually worked. And it'll stay that way for a while from now.

    God, thinking about yelling at my car like I sometimes have to yell at phone robots makes me shudder.

    I have to admit having a rant at it a couple of weeks ago but it's pretty good by all accounts Smiley Then I realised that people in oncoming traffic wondered who the hell I was yelling at!

    I don't need it to understand spoken english, which is what most 'voice control' predictions are hoping for : "Car, please call Jeff at his house".

    What I want, is for it to understand basic word commands so I can do the same thing as pressing a button, but without having to take my hands off the wheel.  So I'm completely happy with being able to do the same command with the following sequence of discrete steps, for example:

    "MUTE".   "Phone",   "Dial Jeff", "HOME"

    That, I think, modern voice recognition can do just fine.  I'll see within the next 4 weeks, I think.
