    Is Porsche at the Bottom?

Japanese Cars Score Highest in Magazine

DETROIT - For the first time in nine years, all of the top picks in Consumer Reports' annual vehicle guide are made by Japanese automakers. The Honda Civic is the magazine's top small sedan, while the Toyota Highlander Hybrid is the top mid-sized sport utility vehicle, according to results released Wednesday.

    ...

After Lexus, Honda and Toyota, the brands rounding out the top ten for reliability were Mitsubishi, Subaru, Acura, Scion, Mercury, Mazda and Suzuki. The ten lowest-rated brands were Audi, Infiniti, Saturn, Lincoln, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Hummer and Porsche.

    Porsche was last for reliabilty?

Re: Is Porsche at the Bottom?

    Sounds like a joke.
Last year P was in the top.

    What magazine is that?

The magazine is Consumer Reports'. I never pay attention to them but last place?

Re: Is Porsche at the Bottom?

My current Porsche is more reliable than my former Mitsubishi and Mazda rides
    I don't trust that article

Re: Is Porsche at the Bottom?

I wouldn't trust Consumer Reports when it comes to Porsche. I remember reading one of their articles about roadsters and they were dumbfounded that the ignition was oddly placed to the left of the steering wheel! LOL..

Re: Is Porsche at the Bottom?

Consumer Reports is fine for buying a dishwasher or toaster, but I'd never trust them in buying audio gear, automobiles, or wristwatches, etc...

Agree. They still picked the Boxster as their favorite drop top.

BTW, the Elise has "unsafe" handling characteristics. Apparently when you breath on the throttle, the car rotates.

Re: Is Porsche at the Bottom?

Keep in mind that other guides place many Ford and GM products on top... and we all know how accurate that is.

    forbes

forbes has porsche no. 1 for reliability

Amen to that Grant. It's also good for housebreaking dogs and lining bird cages.

I am not a fan of Consumer Reports but they are honest. The reason for the low Porsche rating is the Cayenne and not the sport car. As an owner of a cayenne, I cannot disagree with their appraisal.

Im not terribly impressed with a list of greatest sports cars that has the Miata in 2nd position.

Re: Is Porsche at the Bottom?

It's a well deserved position, considering the effect it had on the roadster market.

CR can't even tell the difference between an auto and manual gearbox
