Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

    Hi all UK car waiters,

    Well..

2 Full Days left.. So how many of us are waiting together??

Excited? Been for a sneaky peak of your car yet?

    ...Add

(To those who don't know, in the UK we age cars by registration prefixes of which we have 2 per year. Next is March 1. Thus March 1 and Sept 1 are the two biggest days for car sales in the UK)

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are ther

Lucky begger. Mine's due in April, who knows when though as I have no actual date yet. I feel like I've lived your wait also...

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

Damned! I;m after you .. I am 11:30!! The dealer is driving 45 minutes to come and pick me up! Gives me a few minutes in the morning to load the cases with the cash!

How about a challenge.. Who can get the most number of freebie items out of their OPC!

Yes not a very classy entry hey. But at least the departure will be.

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

Mine is coming at 1:00pm from Cambridge Porsche - I cannot wait. This is my first porsche and I am going nuts waiting for this beauty!!!

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

Congratulations Zster786!! I hope you have a blast with your new motor!!!

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

what's your plans for the day guys? - a very long drive? show it off to friends and relatives?
    and...
how much are you going to push the engine?...I know we're breaking the beasts in....but will you be able to resist revving it past 4000....especially if you've got the PSE option????

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

I have the PSE on my car and cant wait to hear how it sounds. What I have done is that for next week I have on purpose planned long distance appointments so that I can drive down there in my new car!!

How long are you meant to drive it in "break in" mode? I dont think I will be able to take driving it slowly!

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

The salesman told me that break in period is about 600 miles, and be gentle with it for about 2000, so a good trip to the highlands of scotland this weekend (depending on the weather) should do the trick.

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

thanks Kev_997. thats not too bad. How long is this induction process from the salesman going to take - one person told me 2 hours!!

Plan is for no work all day. I get picked up by the OPC at about 10ish ( I think!) then I just drive around all day.

As for running in, I will most likely do what I have been told to historically with new engines. Not mother it too much. Not treat it like I stole it, but drive it hard enough to make sure you give it a good idea of its future life!

I have been told the worst thing to do is treat it too gently. So I definitely won't be doing that!!

As for PSE. I have one, but haven't heard it in use yet!!!

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

    zster,

I had an 'induction' meeting with my opc last week, so picking the car up will take about 20mins (or as long as it takes to prise the cash off me!!). If you can get down to your opc tomorrow and do the run through on the cars functions (sat nav/radio etc) then I would do it.

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are there??

I have taken the rest of the week off. I plan to try and clock those miles up. Paid for my motor last week so hopefully i can just jump in it and get driving as soon as possible.

Stay off the motorways and on the twisties. It should help the stone chip worries, but watch out for spoggies and woodies

Re: Final Count for Wed (March 1st). How many of us are ther

i got very little notice. I knew I had a Feb build. First I knew was on the 15th when the dealer said it had arrived in the UK. It arrived at the dealer about 8 days later.

On Feb 1st it didn't have a build date. So things creep up quite quickly.

So quickly in fact, I haven't quite got the cash together yet. Anyone got 75K going spare? Anyone??

When I was in the OPC last week. I saw a Basalt boxster. It just isn't for me. It isnt black enough to my eyes! If I had chosen black it would have to be clearcoat flat back.

But then again my pickup is flat black and what a nightmare to keep clean in a country where it always rains..

If I post pictures you aren't allowed to pick on my 'ricer' appendages that Porsche so very nicely affixed to my vehicle (Aerokit to you!)

    All the colours look great!
But I'm with Rob, GT Silver on the way for me.

Just driving past the dealer at the weekend made me grin inanely!

    Roll on April..

One newbie question whats the 'O' in OPC?
