I went to the dealership today to buy and put on the clear side lenses. They wanted $300 to put it on. Any way I can do it myself? What shoud I do? And also, has anyone tried to smoke out their side lenses? If so, can you provide a pic?
I put them on my Cayenne Turbo yesterday. I paid $15.82 each (plus 1.06 each for amber bulbs) from Sunset Imports (www.sunsetimports.com) and it took about a half hour or so to install. Remove the one torx screw above the light and the 4 screws below the light from the black plastic wheel well lining. Gently pull the wheel well lining outward. There are three little nubs that holds the lining behid the light. You can gently pry them out of the way. Then there are two torx screws holding the light in place. Use your new light as an example of where to look for the screws. You don't have to remove the top screw completely to remove the light. It is very hard to get to with your hand, so leaving it partially in is a good idea.
Pull the old light out, unplug the wiring by pulling on it. Remove the clear bulb with an amber bulb, push the rubber piece onto the new light and you are ready to reinstall. With a little work you can get the light in place. Tighten the top and bottom torx screws and you are ready to snap and screw the wheel well lining back in place.
I think anyone can do this with a little effort. Just make sure you have torx screw drivers ( I think size 20 and size 25 or 27).
