Sports Exhaust

Does the sports exhaust option increase the sound only or does it give more power as well? If you get the sports exhaust, the chrome tail pipes are included or still need to be ordered separately? Thanks

Should work in the same way like the 911's sports exhaust
so it will increase sound quality only...Not like there was anything wrong with the way Cayman's sound in the 1st place

My Cayman is on the ship in its way. I will still be interested in adding PSE. Is it available from Tequipment now?

IMO the Cayman sound track is just right with the stock exhaust....but that's just me. I would wait until I got a few miles on it before making a change.....you may not have to spend the money for PSE.

I have 1400 miles on my Cayman and only run to 4000 rpm most of the time. Occasionally I run to 5000 rpm. 4000 to 5000 rpm sounds fantastic. After 600 more miles, I'll find out how 5000 to 7300 rpm sounds.

I think it would be risky to order any sport exhaust without knowing what it sounded like compared to the standard exhaust. The Cayman is the first Porsche I've owned that makes such a nice sound inside that I'm afraid a louder external exhaust might mask the internal music. I really don't care what the car sounds like to others outside the car. Henry: I've had mine to 7k several times, but still think the nicest sound is when it's put under load in the mid-range.

I'd get it only if it made the sound quieter. The stock Cayman S is already too loud to pass sound check at Laguna Seca, which is the closest track to my house.

Wait a minute. i thought the Carrera sports exhaust was "on-demand" i.e. you decide when you want it on by selecting sport mode or something like that. So going by the same basic information, I was presuming that Cayman would be the same. So basic information incorrect i.e. Carrera sports exhaust is "always on"?

03LX470, you were correct before. There's a switch where you can have either sport sound or regular with just a press of the button.

Thanks all,
I just heard from the dealership. Sports exhaust was the only option they said the factory didnt accept. Having read the comments here about the cayman sound, I am almost glad I saved the money!
