    X5 4.4 or Cayenne V6?

    Wondering what you would choose as they are both similiarly priced here in Canada, X5 4.4 with options 76K or Cayenne V6 with same options at 75K. Both would have xenons, 18", leather, and sunroof.

    Haven't driven either but do have a ML350 at the moment. Like the idea of a smooth V8 but handling is very important, which the old ML was not that good.

    Having driven both cars, The X5 is significantly faster than Cayenne V6 (but not as fast as Cayenne S). The performance of your ML350 will be in between the two, but not as sporty as either (I had ML320 and ML500 before). If you wants better performance, then get X5. Beware that a new X5 and the facelifted Cayenne will be out within 1 to 1.5 years time.

    If it were me, I will still buy the Cayenne V6 as it is made in Germany.

    If Handling is important, go for the Cayenne w/PASM, I understand its chassis has better rigidity values than the BMW and way better than the Tourage and the MB.
    If you want power, go with the Cayenne S or the Turbo for the ultimate
    That's the Porsche difference

    Definetely the BMW X5 4.4.
    The Cayenne V6 is a nice entry model but you don't get much fun out of it I'm afraid.
    Cayenne buyers should always start with the Cayenne S.

    The Cayenne V6 uses a modified VW V6 engine. The engine isn't bad at all but at 250 HP, not powerful enough for such a heavy car. And what is worse: in the past, the VW Touareg used the same V6 engine without the Porsche mods at 220 HP power output. Now VW offers the Touareg V6 with 260 HP, 10 horses more than the Porsche Cayenne V6 engine version. I'd say: stay away from the Cayenne V6, resale value will also drop sooner or later.

    The Cayenne S and Turbo are of course a different story.

    New VW Touareg V6(3.6L FSI) is actually having 280hp(206kw) and 360Nm. Sorry to say but, this new entery level Touareg is better buy then Cayenne V6, IMO.

    Sorry, I mixed up the numbers. Of course...280 HP, 30 horses more than the Cayenne V6. And it definetely is a better buy than the Cayenne V6 since it has direct fuel injection now, meaning probably lower (or same) fuel consumption.

    Thanks for the input. Guess it will be the X5 and will have to wait a couple of years and then get a 997 for myself.

    AJ, as pointed out before, the NEXT GENERATION x5 is due out this year....be careful with your purchase, unless you don't mind buying a soon to be extinct model.

    I had an x5 4.4, was overall happy with the performance, nothing spectacular but certainly an excellent all round daily driver.

    I'm a CTT owner but I have to go with the X54.4, that;s in a totally different level, but if you say CS vs X54.4, you know what my choice would be
