Seeking opinions on this price for new 2005 Turbo

I have been considering buying a new Turbo or waiting until late next year for a face lifted 2008 model. I found a new 2005 Turbo that is being offered for $78,800.

    Here is what is has:
    QV8 Satellite Radio Sirius
    7A2 6 Disc CD Changer
    3FE Moonroof
1NP Wheel Hub covers colored crest
    C02 US Standards/Emissions
    QR1 Compass Display
0TD Front and rear floor mats

It is Crystal silver metallic with Black smooth leather.

Using the 2006 prices, the retail would be $93,400. Do you think this is a good deal? Someone here said they got 12.5% off a 2006. If so, this is not so hot. Here in Southern California it is hard to get that much off.

    Any words of wisdom??

That seems a little high, unless it is from a dealer,
    mileage?

It is from a dealer. It is brand new. Currently shows 96 miles. Never been sold.

That's a huge discount - take it. Not sure what SciFrog is saying, but you are looking at invoice or possibly below, and a discount of about 16%! I just bought CPO (2004) for 59k, and you are looking at new for 20k more - that's damn good.

    PS CA,

You're a much smarter guy than I am, so I assume you've already factored in all the obvious issues of whether it's the color you want, has the options you want, etc., etc. If the answers are generally yes, this sounds like a pretty decent deal to me, especially if you can maybe hammer a few more perks out of them, like maybe some free service. I'd sure like to hear some details on the 12.5% discount that was posted. That seems awfully steep on an '06, unless the dealer really needed to move that particular vehicle, but I did my shopping last year, so I don't know. I pushed several dealers really hard this time last year on my '05 (ordered, not bought off the lot) and they locked up their "bargaining brakes" before I got to that level of a discount.

Also, how long do you plan to keep it? The longer you drive it, the less difference in resale between an '05 and an '06, so it becomes a better deal in the long run. I'm sure I'm just restating the things you've already considered. Good luck!

Here is how it compares to the vehicle I want:

    QV8 Satellite Radio Sirius - Don't want
    7A2 6 Disc CD Changer - Don't want
    3FE Moonroof - Want
1NP Wheel Hub covers colored crest - Want/don't care
    C02 US Standards/Emissions
    QR1 Compass Display - Don't want
0TD Front and rear floor mats - Want

Crystal silver metallic with Black smooth leather - Want

The only thing I want that is missing are the 20" Sport Techno Wheels. I have asked them for pricing on these. If they give me a fair price for a set of them I may have to seriously consider this vehicle. I see used 2004's and 05's asking more than this price.

One last problem. The car is 2000 miles away from me. Couldn't find a 2005 anything like the car I want in my area. They will ship, but it adds about $1500 more to the deal.

    no brainer then, take it

Re: Seeking opinions on this price for new 2005 Turbo

I didn't think it was brand new, it is a good deal, but not a killer deal IF you can negociate a $10K discount on an 06 with your specs.

Mats and wheel hub: you can get it later for cheap.
The dealer should be able to swap the wheels for a reasonable price.

Color and moonroof: price you pay for getting it cheap.

Re-read the list of options it has and my comment about each option:

    QV8 Satellite Radio Sirius - Don't want
    7A2 6 Disc CD Changer - Don't want
    3FE Moonroof - Want
1NP Wheel Hub covers colored crest - Want/don't care
    C02 US Standards/Emissions
    QR1 Compass Display - Don't want
0TD Front and rear floor mats - Want
Crystal silver metallic with Black smooth leather - Want

So, it has three relatively inexpensive options that I don't want, but they aren't deal breakers. It is the color I wanted and has the options I wanted except for the missing 20" wheels. And those can be acquired later.

The problem is I haven't been able to negotiate a $10k discount on a 2006. This is essentially the car I want. Look at the prices for used 2004 and 2005 turbos......most ads I have seen are asking for a higher price than this new 2005.

Sorry, I understood it the other way around.
Get it, it is a good price and so close to what you want.
An idea for the wheels: you could use them or sell them as winter spare and get the ones you want separately. If your dealer is nice, he might swap them around with another car for a fee.
