HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

    hi to all!!

i m back, does anybody of you experts know which products are good for shining the PSE pipes??

I left my car unwashed and dirty for 30 days and all the dirt on the PSE pipes was left on them and burned.

Conclusion the PSE pipes lost their shineness.
    Dunno what to do ...

i heard of some products e.g. SONAX that are special for chromium parts.

My concern is that the PSE get hot and hotter and i m not sure if it is safe to use a chromiun shining product on a surface that get very hot

Could i just use the SONAX chromiun shiner on the pipes? or it will damage it?

Because in Greece we dont have many specialty brands for car care....

    Many thanx guys!

Re: HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

i use for my car the same product we use at home to clean the brass and silver, its working perfect

Re: HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

ISNT ANY HAZARD AFTER THE EXHAUST HAS BEEN HEATED?

Re: HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

never had a problem ,but for sure dont do it when its hot..

Re: HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

    Flitz metal polish!

    Deanski

Re: HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

Flitz is good, "Seapower" is good. Any of the SS paste-like cleaners are good. You're not polishing or adding shine to stainless steel because it is very hard to machine SS (doing it by hand is almost impossible) You're just cleaning the oxidation and grime that has formed and adding a new layer of oxidation to prevent further oxidation and grime. Stainless stays "stainless" because of a molecule-thick layer of oxygen which is attached to the surface. Google it and find out more. Any of the SS "polishes" (really just cleaners) are good and will work well.

No, metal polish is not flamable, will not create any hazard by leaving a film of it behind... Buy any metal polish, the results have more to do with the work you put in, less to do with the product used.

Flitz is vely good, but what's that go to do with porishing exhaust pipes.

Re: HELP: HOW to shine the PSE pipes

I use Meguiars NXT Metal Polysh

It's easy to use, very gentle and seals nicely making future clean ups quicker/easier...It's formulated for amongst other things chrome exhausts...

    You can buy it here

BTW, did you know The claimed history of "RejeX" (another metal/paint "polish") is that it was made to mil-spec for protecting titanium exhaust manifolds on military helicopters? Polymers- weird and crazy stuff.

Autosol and Rejex is a good combination

If you really want to shine up your stainless steel exhaust tips, take them off of the car, and first polish them with a buffing wheel, and metal polish rouge stick, then finish them off with Autosol or just about any good light metal polish creme. Finally coat them with Rejex to keep them from turning brown or blue, and to help keep the road tar that the tires kick up on the exhaust from sticking on the metal. The urban legend about Rejex and helicopter turbine exhausts is true.

This is the regime that I use on my stainless pipes and tips. I actually polished the entire muffler with metal polish and Rejex when I installed a PSE on my 996. Now just a wipe-down with a wet towel keeps them looking good.

And no, I don't disassemble the rear of the car to clean them...

I've got the most fantastic hottie (she also can think and brings in 6 figures) you can imagine as a girlfriend . She polishes my pipes better than I could ever shine the P-Car

    I am on the fence!

I am still going back and forth on a 997, but I have to say that I like the 996 better. I think that the main reason is that the 996 is still somewhat of an "analog" car which means I can tinker with it, and fix it if need be.

The 997 is just too digital for my tastes right now. I have 2 other digital cars, a sedan and a wagon, and they are great cars, but a proper sports car in my mind is a machine that you can become one with. I just haven't figured out how to properly do that with a 997 yet. Perhaps the 997 GT3 will allow me to do a mind meld with it.

You aren't making light of my car are you

Porsches are like beautiful women, a great way to enjoy them is to have them naked!

Re: Autosol and Rejex is a good combination

    oh!!!! thats niceee

but dont go to far and start buying thongs to your porsche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Autosol and Rejex is a good combination

No need for thongs, they just get in the way.

However a bra is a necessity to keep things perky! It should be secured in the front for quick access to the goods.
