    I finally read this entire thread and all I can say is MMD needs to get a life that includes analyzing things that are worthwhile....his opinion is really both offensive and quite useless. I am a person who can certainly afford the differential in price between "S" and non but just chose to replace my recently totaled '04 C4S with an '06 C4. Why you ask. The answer is simple...I love the C4's tracking at high speed, and much prefer the rear end's stance. I simply do not care about an extra 30 horses and absolutely think PASM is a waste. That's all folks...made my decision and am loving it.

    I just registered for the first time today and was catching up on the various threads when I came upon this interesting debate.

    Nothing.

    We all choose our cars for such different reasons, any 'conclusions' that we may try to draw from our choices are inevitably only going to be stereotypical, superficial observations which are of little or no value.

    The bottom line is that it just doesn't matter. We should each just enjoy what we've got.

    FWIW, the "I've got all the HP I need" is the rationale people use most NOT to have gotten the S.





    OTOH, I think there's something wrong with my 997S because I'm trading it in to buy the Turbo in the near future.

    Yep. Just because you "don't care about an extra 30 horses" doesn't justify ripping into another guy who does care.

    I care about all the horsepower I can get my hands on, I use every little pony under the hood of my S, and I could use another 100-200 of them if I could just afford (translation of "afford": justify to my wife) the pesky little suckers.

    I'm the last person here to read anyone the riot act about being emotional, but there's a difference between emotional and nasty. I don't think anybody got nasty in this thread about those who decide that the standard packs enough punch to suit them, so firing back so vehemently doesn't look terribly noble. If you're so touchy about subject, then the extra dough for the "S", if nothing else, might have helped stabilize your blood pressure...
